Hi everyone,

Just joined Boptalk (such a cute name) and this is my first post :D

What are your thoughts on the kelly ghillies? Yay or Nay? Is this a bag you already have or would consider adding to your collection?

If you have one, pls share pics too :)

I don’t have a ghillies Kelly (yet), but after owning my ghillies Birkin, I am loving the additional detailing, so yay, yes, absolutely would love to have one come my way!!! ????

I’m bumping up this thread because I would love more Hermes Ghillies feedback! I seem to be seeing more lately, yet one of our boppers heard they were being discontinued…any confirmation on this out there?

  • Stylish Sheba

Hi PurseBop, I revisited this issue with my SA and she did confirm to me that they couldn’t place any new orders for Ghillies bags. That’s not to say that people won’t be offered them at the moment as there is such massive time lag between when orders are placed and when they receive them (for my store it is apparently about two years). Sadly, the same can apparently be said for lizard Bs which I also had my eye on.

I like the men’s shoe concept behind the ghillies. I find it a little unisex myself.

  • favloves
Do you have one currently mrb? Or would you consider getting one if your store offered one?

Never really familiar with the ghillies style before these pics, thanks for sharing! I say if you can get your hands on one, seize the opportunity. I really like the trim..it is somehow, ironically more feminine

  • favloves
I love the trim too. Although would u prefer this design on a b or k?

favloves I really like the ghillies in any style, shape, color. I have been trying to purchase one for years with no luck. From what I know they are produced in very limited quantities. Good Luck!

  • favloves

Yes, yes, yes! The Kelly Ghillies is just stunning. I would love to score one myself. A mix of box and perhaps togo?

  • Pursebop
I have not seen a box/togo. I must hunt for more pictures :) I would love an ostrich / togo combination someday!
  • Helenkm
Ive only ever seen photos of a box/togo in the light grey taupe colours. So beautiful. Totally impractical for me but by golly gosh I would love one.

honestly I think ghilles detailing makes bag more feminine, I personally prefer NOT, but I’m not a girls girl type of dresser. Is it more expensive?

  • favloves
I also think the ghillies detailing can look feminine but read that it was inspired by the scottish ghillie brogue shoes for men, so perhaps the intention was actually to give the bag a more unisex look? And yes the ghillies is a little more expensive than the retourne kelly.
  • Pursebop
girlfriend I did not know that it was inspired by the scottish ghillie brogue shoes for men, fascinating! Perhaps you should start a thread specifically about this. You are my Hermes guru :)
  • Valentina
I didn´t know about it´s inspiration either, a thread on it would really be great.

My dear friend (and Hermes guru) WELCOME! I am soooo excited to see you here. We are going to enjoy lively conversations here about all things H, LOL (I just know it) I have only had the opportunity to see this in person once in Anemone. I would love one someday! I think ghillies is beautiful in the larger sizes meaning at least a K32 & B35. With so much detail a little more surface area looks great :)
What are you contemplating dear? Is there one in your near horizon?

  • favloves
Thanks so much for the warm welcome my dear (& fellow partner in hermes/chanel crimes :p). Honoured to be part of this amazing launch and I’m sure we’ll have a fabulous time chatting with our pursebop family and fellow bag lovers here. I remember our talk about the anemone ghillies u saw. Have to say the colours when seen IRL with the contrast leather does look amazing. That blue ostrich one you just posted looks divine too :D Do you think ghillies (be it b or k) has a classic enough look still to be more than just an “IT” bag tho? If I remember correctly, they started back around 2011?
  • Pursebop
I think they are completely classic, and in fact give the bag such a unique touch that makes them stand apart from all others. I would not worry about it being dated at all. Don’t you just wish we started collecting H bags years ago???
  • favloves
i’m glad to hear you say that. oh yes, not only were they more accessible but that’s when some of the most incredible H colors came out. think we were both too engrossed in our cc at that time tho :p

I have mixed feelings with this one…

  • favloves
Why it that dear? Would love to hear ur reasons
  • thepinkmarigold
Maybe it’s just me…the color combination is not as good… A little bit outdated

I haven’t really had much personal experience or exposure to the kelly ghillies, but my initial thoughts: YAY! I think the trim gives a nice touch to the bag for an elevated look

Do you have any specific colors in mind?

  • favloves
Anemone with the mix of Togo and swift leather which gives diff shades of purple. The tri-color blue grizzly also looks gorgeous from pics I’ve seen but not sure about the suede leather.
  • Pursebop
your heart is set on an anemone :)
  • favloves
Yes something in anemone. Love the color in Epsom too. Think I just love anemone period. Also love Parme. Wish H will bring this purple shade back!
  • Pursebop
yes Parme is such an unusual shade, much like lagoon. They are undescribeable actually and unlike any other handbag designers colors :) Hermes colors are so rich and saturated. Did you see the Hermes post on color on the blog?
  • favloves
totally agree, and lagoon is another of my H favorite. Such an amazing color. Yes I did love. I saw italianfashionista color charts before and loved how you included them in the post also. Gorgeous eye candy :D
