Chanel is Both Coming to and Going from NYC

Two Chanel fashion items.

First, the coming:
For all of Karl Lagerfeld’s recent Chanel jaunts around the globe, NYC – a major international fashion center – has been skipped. No more. on December 4, 2018 the Chanel Metiers show for PreFall 2019 is coming to NYC and not just to any venue. The House of Coco is taking to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Yes, that Met. The site of the annual Costume Institute Gala, commonly called the Met Gala, which brings out celebrities and fashion stars alike. Right now, through October 8, the Met is home to the controversial exhibit: “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and The Catholic Imagination.” on

The only question now is when I get my invite. Hint, hint, Karl.

Second, the going:
Chanel is closing its NYC headquarters to centralize its global operations in London, reports Business of Fashion. There will still be offices in NYC, but NY will no longer be the hub.
