How does your significant other feel about bags and luxury brands?

It seems like a lot of lucky ladies on here have great boyfriends or husbands who understand and support their love of bags and luxury brands if not sharing it. My signicant other on the other hand, while he is a great man, could not care less about fashion or appearance and thinks it’s ridiculous to spend thousands on handbags and thinks you are just paying for the name. I have tried to explain the quality and the heritage of different brands to him and that they hold their value, and encouraged him to get some shoes or a belt for himself while we are browsing in stores but to no avail. However he will spend just as much if not more on things he believes are “useful” like electronics, sporting equipment, and car parts. Do anyone else experience this with their SO? Any tips to get him to come around?

Yes, he has bought bags for me before that he knew I wanted, then later told me he thinks the bag is “nothing special.” LOL. Granted, I wasn’t into buying bags when I met him, I’ve always been into fashion and bought my first luxury bags many years ago but then got bit by the travel bug big time so I spent all my money on trips and expensive fashion took a back burner. I ended up going to almost 30 countries within just a few years but now that I’m with him my traveling ways have slowed down quite a bit, we mainly travel together now. So it’s only been in the past couple of years that I’m have been wanting to build a bag collection, so perhaps he just needs to get used to it more.

I do wish he would spend more on nicer things for himself, at least he will wear things that I’ve bought him but it will take a lot of birthdays and occasions to build him up a decent wardrobe! I am trying to convince him that bags like Chanel and Hermes are “practical” since they hold their value and never go out of style. I definitely cringe when I see him throwing out electronics that he bought not that long ago but are already obsolete, I tell him that’s like a a Birkin you are throwing in the trash lol!

Ah he still sounds pretty great! ?? I feel like most guys these days are like your hubs. Mine is only really into certain bags and brands he believes hold value or are worth more even later, if it’s an exotic or special edition, etc. For instance, he does not like the Petite Malle LV bags even though I’m obsessed. He gets randomly love/hate over certain bags/belts/shoes for no reason, lol. He doesn’t get clothes as much, though?! He thinks I have “too many,” (even though my closet is super curated and very small compared to most girls into fashion and particularly small for someone in luxury retail ?). That’s always a struggle. He’s also really into cars, coins, certain memorabilia, gems, so it’s just a personality thing?! Lol I dunno. Eh, my advice for what it’s worth is to just be supportive of his hobbies/collections and keep on collecting and loving fashion – he loves that about you I’m sure and probably respects that you are strong in your convictions! You have great style! And I know you love cars, too! Sorry if this is not helpful….! ?????
