What started your bag addiction?

When I was a little girl mom used to give me old purses to play dress up with. She would also give me little samples of perfumes and tubes and little lipp gloss. I LOVED that, it made me feel grown up and glamorous. I remember my mom having a brownish beige Delvaux backpack and black 2.55 Chanel, she used them all the time. She always looked so elegant and all I wanted was to have that black quilted Chanel with red interior. What started your bag addiction? I would love to know! X Francine

Ever since I was little I was always carrying a handbag! The designer “addiction” started when I received my very first Delvaux from my dad for my 21st birthday. It hasn’t stopped since then :-D

Thanks for sharing Francine, such a sweet story. And I adore your style – always bright and fun.

Personally, I blame Mrs. PurseBop and the BopTalk community for my addiction to bags. Lol kidding, but you guys are the sweetest enablers..

My love for bags didn’t truly start until I met the magnificent Petite Malle early this year. It was love at first sight. Now I can’t stop.. the more I get, the more I want. It literally takes every ounce of self-control to stop myself from strolling into Louis Vuitton and buying 4 at once or a crocodile one. ???? I would also like to add that I believe Instagram plays a huge role in the “wanting more” frenzy.

when I’m having lunch with the girls, we always take pics of our bags (with drinks or sweets lol) here I am taking a pic of my friends bag ??? in the beginning we always felt a little ashamed of making pics in a full restaurant or on a terrace but now we’re over it… And we’re having so much fun!

well, blame it on InStyle Magazine *LOL* I started buying it in my early 20’s, saw the pics of the celebs with their Chanels and since then I thought – oh my, one day I wanna have a Chanel bag… but it stayed a dream for a few years… And then, in March 2011, my dream came true: I got my first Chanel bag, black caviar with silver hardware in m/l size… in the moment I walked out the boutique with this gem I knew that it won’t be my last ;) and now I have a – for me – great collection that is pretty complete – but honestly: will a Chanel bag collection ever be complete :D ;)

And Louis Vuitton followed…

Sweet Francine you are truly an inspiration! I’m very into bright colors and find ways to wear them even in the winter so I love that someone else is putting that out there in such a lovely way. I’ve followed you for awhile in my private account but you were a major influencer for me starting sapphiresandscotch. I remember my grandmother always having beautiful bags that matched things and I always wanted to look that chic and elegant! I was always more of a shoe girl and invested much of my hard earned money in nice shoes, most of which I still love and own. My tipping point would be my beloved BE swift Kelly and my husband surprising me with her – I am now forever addicted and have wanted to fulfill my bag “list” now that he did that ?.

Thank you so much for this thread, Mrs. PurseBop and Francine! It’s so nice to be in the company of such lovely friends and influencers in our addiction ???

Hi my gorgeous Francine :) actually my dad always brought high fashion or limited edition bags/shoes etc. to my mom from his business trips. at that time, there were no boutiques of exclusive brands in Ist :( .. After i grow up, he started to bring me too :D yeaaayy :D he always told me that, “if you can afford it, go for it.. the quality is the most important thing..”.. and the idea of the quality and luxury started to settle in my brain in these years :D

Hi Francine! Your style is so unique! I just love it. I am trying to stop wearing so much black and you provide great inspo. So thanks for that.
My first proper designer bag was a large Mulberry Roxanne that I still own but do not use. For some reason I never found the courage to sell it…
My general fashion addiction probably started because growing up I always had to wear school uniforms and I hated it!
I cannot really pinpoint an exact time when I became addicted to bags… I guess at some point I started needing to carry things around and started to wear them and later understood that the right bag was a great accessory and could totally transform an outfit…
The important thing is that I love them and my most recent purchase will make you proud colorwise. :)
Thank you for sharing!

Hi Francine. I have really enjoyed reading your interview and images. I have to say I find your style fascinating and totally unique to you. I love it completely. I was positive you had to be a colourist with that kind of style. I was over the moon when you followed me !! ….So my love of fashion was always there. My grandmother was a very stylish lady and always gave me tips and lessons on fashion and beauty from a very young age. I have an image of my mother in a ysl floor length gown at a party and I always wanted to be that stylish. My mum always recounts a story of me at the age of 6 all dressed up waiting to receive my first second hand bike. I had worn black and white stripy tights with denim shorts over the top. Sneakers and red top and put my hair in plaits with red ribbons, cool look for a 6 yr old!!! My mother took me shopping nearly every Saturday for clothes and I remember walking in London with my cousins in our fur jackets and looking at my mum and aunt in theirs. I was hooked. I used to get a new pair of shoes every week !! So that’s where it all started.
I went into Chanel yesterday and brought a pair of the cream and black leather espadrilles – I said don’t box them!! I’ll wear them now ! I giggled to myself. I’m still like that little girl that went home in her new shoes!!
Thank you Pursebop and Francine, I love Boptalk And friends on IG , such an amazing platform to express myself and meet such lovely kind people xxxx

  • Hi Kristi! What a beautiful message! And ofcourse I wanted to follow you! Love your pics! My favorite bag from your collection is the classic flap flower bag! What an unique piece! Congrats on the new espadrilles! So happy for you! Will be a great match with your Diorama, that’s such a fab bag! And we’re twinsies on the Fendi. We have a lot in common ? Denim shorts and sneakers omg you were a very fashionable kid!

The reason why I became a bag lover was my sister :) She is a little bit older than me and always liked to dress up beautifully since we were young. So naturally she started to have a beautiful collection of bags (at a very young age) up until now :) Back then I was more of a Tomboy and she was the one that got me to change when I hit 16/17. I would and still am always admiring her beautiful bags, shoes etc… Of course my mother influenced us both but my sister just brought the love of bags to another level :)
Much love

Isabelle

Hello,
This is such a great story of a “great ” lady ! Francine is a younger colleague of me at the beauty school, but such an example to all of us. Like I told you before dearest friend “sky is the limit” , you will become “famous” !!!
I have a bag obsession, since I was a little girl. My first designer bag was a Navy blue Delvaux Brillant, got it from my parents for my 18years. If i would count all the bags I had since, it most be over 200 pieces. It’s strange to say but I’m not long in love with a bag…3-6 months and than I want another one. I sell them to buy another new one instead. So if you buy my preloved bags you are very lucky ! I had once a Chanel bag, but this isn’t me …I like more big shoppers like the neverfull GM and the Artsy. For the moment I have a Celine bag Addiction, certainly the phantom model is my favorit. Hope you love my new picture of the yellow one on Ig posted today.
Lots of love, Sophie (@coloursandbeautyathome)
