Gilded gowns ruled the red carpet at the Grammy Awards!
Shine and sparkle took center stage at the Staples Center on January 26th in Los Angeles as the music industry honored its own.
No surprise here, the focus was all dresses, so I must insist, WHERE IS THE BAGGIE CAM???
To even out the coverage, let’s continue my tradition of adorning the stars with complementary bags.
Welcome to PurseBop’s Picks for the 2014 Grammy Awards:
Taylor swift looked absolutely model like in a statuesque Gucci Premiere chain mail dress with a demure T-shirt neckline. Her slender silhouette with the column effect of the dress made her a standout on the red carpet and one of my favorite looks of the night. A voluminous ponytail worked perfectly with the look, keeping the focus on the gorgeous gold gown. A slightly more mature look for her, but she rocked it like second skin, literally! A real grammy fashionista winner for me. Absolutely glorious!
PurseBop’s Pick:
There really has not been a red carpet celebrity for whom the CHANEL Sparkle Beauty Bag would not be the perfect compliment. I have paired it with Anne Hathaway, Michelle Obama, and most recently Cate Blanchette. Well Miss Swift will join the esteemed SBBC (Sparkle Beauty Bag Club, LOL) but with a new twist. The limited edition dazzler was introduced in Spring 12′ (12P) and has been reintroduced for the current Spring season (14S) in both color ways again…silver and a champagne gold, as boutique exclusives. I am a little disappointed that Chanel did a ‘redo’ of my original, but its versatility and glamour makes it THE true blingy CLASSIC Chanel (oh, and the SBB had its fair share of price inflation- at least I can take some consolation that I took the plunge in 12P!)
…back to Miss Swift!
Taylor needs the champagne gold SBB (lower one in pic), wouldn’t you agree? She could pair it to her side, single strap as she struts the carpet or as a handheld clutch with the straps tucked inside (when posing). It turns into the perfect clutch because of its size…approx. 8’x 5’x 2.5’ (I have personally made this switch many times in any evening with my SBB, as I transition from cocktails –where its ideal to be hands free, to the more formal ‘clutch’ times…)
The Chanel ‘SBB’ ROCKS the red carpet yet again!
(PurseBop is very tempted to add the gold baby to her armoire, but there’s something already lurking in there that I have yet to confess about, hehe) :)
Katy Perry: seems to become more beautiful with each red carpet event. Her Valentino Haute Couture fit and flare dress, perfectly themed with music notes set a very whimsical fairytale look for the pop princess. The high slicked back oversized bun, slight empire waist and the endless tiered layers of music patterned sheer fabric was undoubtedly a total ‘Katy look.’
It wasn’t glitzy, but rather cutesy, and gets a strong two thumbs up from PurseBop!
PurseBop Pick: Please don’t admit me for my CHANEL No 5 Bottle Bag obsession, and yes, I know I just styled Jennifer Lawrence at the Golden Globes with the same, but I can’t help it…tell me, is it not just absolutely perfect? I know you are smirking because you agree, hehe (And LOVE it too!)
So it’s decided then…The Black Chanel No. 5 Bottle Clutch!

Beyoncé: from her opening act ‘harnessed body suit’ to her Michael Costello fierce white floral gown with sheer detailing — the only word that comes to mind is seductress. She looked stunning showing off her new taught ‘slenderly curvaceous’ body. The gloved dress was like second-skin as it skimmed across her figure! B was a show stopper all the way…
PurseBop’s Pick:
Queen B has me stumped because we could go with so many different looks. Should we play it safe and elegant or go a little wild ?…So I propose to do something a little different this time around. Let me explain, I will offer you three PurseBop Picks and I want you to tell me which you like the most and why. You can submit your vote here via a comment at this post (for everyone to read…) and I will monitor the total votes. Ultimately I will edit this post to share the final results. YOU get to make the selection for Queen B! meanwhile I’ll see if I can somehow get B to cast her pick (LOL…a girl can dream)
Which bag do would you like to see Queen B place in the BAGGIE CAM with her white sexy Grammy’s number?
Option #1: The itsy bitsy Chanel BOY bag from 13C (approx. 6’ X 4’, so its really small) There’s something special about the intricacy of design in such a small space combined with the swirls of gold embroidery finished with a dash of bling… I did not end up buying this adorable beauty but til this day go back to admire this pic on my phone (I chose the Chateau BOY from the same season). I think the size of this BOY makes it a viable red carpet option and would lend an edgier sort of finish to her look. And who doesn’t love a little GOLD and WHITE together!
Option #2: Just LOVE the clear crystal decadence of the sphere shaped Judith Leiber minauderie (I think it’s actually supposed to be an ornament…) Perhaps a more conservative option but I think the shape itself adds a nice element of dimension. Imagine Queen B swinging this from the long chain to her side…(just saw this shimmering beauty at Bergdorf Goodman, NYC)
Option #3 Call me daring but there’s something about this Chanel runway piece that calls Beyonce’s name here. Option #2 above got me thinking about the ‘GLOBE’ bag from 13A inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s runway theme. Dangling from from her hand to her side would make a statement that everyone would be talking about. Can you imagine the dialogue if this were in the red carpet BAGGIE CAM!

Ok my fashionistas, go ahead and cast your votes!
