The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is watching the watches coming into the US . . . This time, finding and seizing 160 timepieces purporting to be genuine Rolex DateJust watches. If genuine, the total value would have been $2.57 million.
Seized in Louisville, KY, the shipment originated in Taiwan. It was headed to a residence in Houston, TX.
The CBP continues to warn of the dangers to individuals and the economy posed by the purchase of counterfeit goods. In particular, CBP says that many products are unsafe and/or contain hazardous materials, and purchasing these goods not only violates intellectual property rights but also deprives legitimate businesses of revenue. It urges shoppers to beware and be safe.
In its 2025 Fiscal Year, CBP reports that it seized almost 79 million counterfeit items, that, if legitimate, would have been worth over $7.3 billion.
