Hermès has arrived in Beijing’s Sanlitun district with a new flagship that’s as much a work of art as it is a store.

This marks the Maison’s fourth address in the capital since 1997. Rising five levels, the building’s glass and terracotta façade, arched windows, and bronze-toned metal mesh capture Hermès’ signature elegance while referencing the nearby Forbidden City.

To celebrate the opening, Hermès unveiled two exclusive bags that perfectly showcase the Maison’s creativity. First up, the ever-coveted Kelly Pochette. For a truly tactile experience, this sleek silhouette is transformed with a fluffy feather body, featuring four types of precious feathers – rooster, turkey, goose, and ostrich – set against supple Swift calfskin.

The second highlight is the Mini Bolide, co-created with Chinese artist Ren Tong. Embroidered with a striking dragon motif, in soft pastel shades, this limited-edition piece fuses Chinese cultural symbolism with the Maison’s artisanal expertise. Both bags are on display at Sanlitun but are likely reserved for Hermès’ most discerning VIP clients.

Beyond these limited-edition creations, the Sanlitun flagship immerses visitors in all sixteen Hermès métiers. From silk and equestrian collections to watches, jewelry, ready-to-wear, and home décor, each floor reveals a distinct universe. From the spiral stone staircase to marquetry panels, lacquered walls, and mosaic floors, the architectural details seamlessly blend contemporary design with traditional inspiration.

The Sanlitun opening shows Hermès’ confidence in China. Leather goods, women’s ready-to-wear, and jewellery continue to perform strongly, even as consumers weigh personal wealth and financial confidence when shopping luxury.

With its landmark location, beautiful design, and highly exclusive creations, the Sanlitun flagship is a must-visit for any Hermès lover. If you could choose one of the limited-edition bags, would it be the feathered Kelly Pochette or the embroidered Mini Bolide?
