There’s no denying it – I’m a Kelly girl, through and through. While my Birkin collection is modest (just two), my devotion to the Hermès Kelly runs deep. And within that devotion, my love for the Mini Kelly II has only grown stronger over the past 2 years. So when the Kelly en Désordre first appeared on the runway at the Fall/Winter 2022 show, I felt my heart skip a beat.

It is the size of the vintage mini Kelly but with a refreshingly unexpected twist. Imagine an extra pocket with a Kelly clasp on the reverse side, and a playful, asymmetric shape – voilà, the Kelly en Désordre was born. The moment I saw it, I knew it was destined to join my collection. Instantly, I was scheming – how could I possibly be lucky enough to be offered one?

I vividly remember multiple times while visiting the mothership in Paris (FSH) admiring the Kelly en Désordre on display in Noir and Bleu Saphir. I snapped selfies with it like a true fangirl,  daydreaming about when it one day would be mine. In fact, I recently spotted a customer walking into FSH with a Vert Fizz Désordre perched on her shoulder and felt compelled to snap a photo. The timing felt almost serendipitous.

But reality soon hit – after two years of quietly obsessing, I came to terms with the fact that any bags, let alone limited-edition pieces, have become nearly impossible to acquire. Reluctantly, I removed the bag from my wishlist and tried to move on.

Nearly two years later, as I patiently waited for an offer of a black Mini Kelly II with palladium hardware, my sales associate kept encouraging me to “consider more options.” I gently reminded her that I was focused solely on the black Mini Kelly – it was the perfect complement to my collection of pink bags. When a Birkin 25 in Étoupe was offered, it missed the mark. I politely declined. All I said was that I was dreaming of something truly special.

And then, to both our surprise, she slipped away to the back room and returned with a very special, oddly shaped box. “Follow me,” she said, with a mischievous smile.

My heart raced. After years of disappointments, could this be the moment?

As she opened the elongated box to reveal its signature blue interior I nearly lept out from excitement. I never expected something “this special.” Nestled inside was a perfect black Kelly en Désordre in Epsom leather, with stunning palladium hardware.

The emotions were overwhelming – joy, disbelief. How could this be happening? This wasn’t just a bag. It was a dream come true.

I asked myself. No Mini Kelly, but a Kelly en Désordre? Made no sense but I reminded myself this is Hermès. Unpredictability is often the name of the game. “Yes, yes, yes!  I will take it,” I said quickly!

To say I was ecstatic was an understatement. The Kelly en Désordre became the crown jewel of my Kelly collection for sure.

A Closer Look: Kelly en Désordre

This limited-edition Kelly made its striking debut on the Paris runway during the Fall/Winter 2022 show, instantly capturing everyone’s attention. The excitement was palpable. When it finally landed in stores a year later, it was offered exclusively to the most discerning VVIPs.

Resembling the vintage Mini Kelly in size – but with an unexpected twist, the Kelly en Désordre stands out with its two functional sides. The diagonal openings give the bag a unique, intentionally distorted silhouette, perfectly embodying its namesake “disorder.” It’s this playful asymmetry that defines its charm and individuality.

While it forgoes the classic Kelly top handle and instead features a shorter, non-detachable shoulder strap, its unmistakable Kelly DNA shines through. The main compartment holds significantly more than the Mini Kelly II – easily accommodating a phone, wallet or Calvi, small pouch, keys, lip gloss and sunnies. The reverse side features a smaller pocket, ideal for credit cards, ID, keys, or a touch of makeup.

Recently, the Ardoise shade with permabrass hardware joined the Désordre lineup, adding yet another stunning option.
