Chanel Métiers d’Art 2026: New Bags, New York Energy

Extra! Extra! Chanel for the People — Tweed, Texture, and Big City Vibes.

Chanel returns to the New York runway after a seven year hiatus. The Maison’s last New York show was Karl Lagerfeld’s Temple of Dendur presentation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2018— a historic moment that preceded his death. Now, Blazy takes the NYC spotlight, and it’s familiar ground for him: he notably lived there while working at Calvin Klein from 2016 to 2019, a period that sharpened his eye and deepened his connection to the city.

On December 2, 2025, the Maison landed in a city defined by creative energy and constant reinvention — a fitting stage for a Métiers d’Art collection that celebrates both exceptional artisanship and cultural momentum.

Adding a playful prelude to the Métiers d’Art runway, Chanel released an animated short titled ‘CHANEL comes to New York.’ The short graphic sequence depicts Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel herself, with a black labrador in tow, arriving in the hustle and bustle of the city – a literal gesture from Blazy, bringing Coco to New York. The dog, a subtle nod to Blazy’s own canine companion John John, adds a personal touch to the narrative. Rendered in bold primary shades of red, yellow, and hints of blue, the comic-book style visuals capture the city’s artistic energy.

Among the names shaping this season is A$AP Rocky, joining Chanel as a House ambassador. Blazy’s creative connection with A$AP Rocky began at Bottega Veneta, and now the rapper’s presence adds modern, cultural edge — reflecting Chanel’s relationship with music, style, and today’s creative landscape, or, in true Chanel fashion, a little bit of A-CC-AP Rocky.

A$AP Rocky first steps into Coco’s world with a short film directed by Michel Gondry, co-starring Margaret Qualley. Moving through New York with a blend of grit and dreamlike rhythm, the teaser sets the tone for Blazy’s vision. Qualley navigates the subway in vivid blue, red and white tweed, carrying the new suede Chanel Flap Bag introduced in Blazy’s Spring-Summer 2026. Rocky moves through the city in bold red printed silk pajamas – even dropping to one knee in a playful proposal scene with Qualley that might have Rihanna raising an eyebrow. Throughout, Gondry infuses the city’s streets with his signature surrealism — a cinematic nod to the energy, craft, and cultural pulse that define this Métiers d’Art collection.

Show invites arrived in the Maison’s signature black and white boxes, each concealing a delicate silver-tone chain necklace — this time adorned with a tiny subway train. More than a simple nod to the city, the miniature detail set the tone for a platform-ready runway.

Showtime

Blazy took the Métiers d’Art 2026 collection underground — quite literally. Staged in the decommissioned Bowery station of the J and Z lines, models emerged from a subway train, doors sliding open as they stepped onto the platform. Some lingered, clutching their Chanel La Gazette or draping coats casually over their arms, as if waiting for the next train after a night out in the city. Others walked with the steady, intentional rhythm of New Yorkers on the move, an undone elegance that felt entirely of the moment.

In La Gazette, which guests received ahead of the show, Blazy framed the collection as “very character-driven.” He spoke of a 1970s journalist, an ’80s businesswoman “who’s going to rule the world,” and other archetypes whose personalities shaped their clothes. The embroidery and embellishment “had to create an alchemy,” he noted — never added simply for the sake of ornament, but to deepen each character’s story.

Texture! Texture! As expected, the Métiers d’Art 2026 lineup embraces textural excellence, weaving craft and creativity through every piece. Tweeds shimmered with metallic threads, enriched by the centuries-honed savoir-faire of Lesage and Montex; bouclés were layered with unexpected fringe and a flurry of Lemarié feathers that seemed to lift with every step. Dandy-inspired tailoring looked effortless alongside leopard-print jacket-and-skirt sets, while little black dresses (yes, little — Gabrielle Chanel famously insisted on keeping knees covered) brought a wink to the Maison’s heritage. Beyond classic textures, the collection bursts with NYC-inspired pieces: denim effect silk, sequin-embellished ‘I Love New York’ tees, and even a skirt crafted from beaded skyscrapers — playful nods to the city’s energy and architecture. Even the footwear played into the narrative, with Massaro revisiting archival designs that hadn’t seen the light of day until now.

The color story was equally dynamic, spanning soft pinks to fiery reds, bold oranges and yellows, vibrant blues, and stark black-and-white contrasts. It’s a collection that widens the Chanel vocabulary: plenty of classic tweeds and pocketed little jackets to satisfy the purists, a generous dose of feathers, shine, and flourish for those craving theatre — and enough pared-back, refined silhouettes to show how naturally Blazy’s own codes slot into the Maison.

Chanel Métiers d’Art 2026 Bags

The Métiers d’Art 2026 handbag lineup presents a masterclass in texture, silhouette, and playful references, featuring an abundance of styles with Flap Bags at the forefront. Oversized suede totes, often casually layered with jackets, cater to workday practicality, while ladylike vintage-inspired minis are perfectly primed for evenings on the town. A menagerie of animal prints dominates, spanning everything from classic leopard and cheetah to graphic tiger motifs and sleek faux-croc skins, while literal animal-inspired designs—think the giraffe and squirrel Flap Bags—add a wink of whimsy. From statement-making textures to polished archival references, the collection strikes a balance between theatricality, utility, and unmistakable Chanel elegance.

Let’s hit the streets of New York and explore how Blazy is reimagining, redesigning, and redefining Chanel.

The Suede Flap Bag

A favorite style from Blazy’s debut collection, Spring-Summer 2026 which will hit stores in March, returned to the runway for the Métiers d’Art grouping with a twist. This slouchy suede bag features oversized flat-stitched quilting details and a double-chain top handle. Updating the original circular eyelets, this iteration is elevated with CC-adorned eyelets. Blazy also turns the design inside out, replacing the traditional CC turnlock with the engraved plate hidden beneath, stamped with “Chanel Paris.” This new Flap Bag was presented in dark beige and chocolate brown.

The Leash-Chain Classic Flap

Blazy puts a playful spin on the Classic Flap in tan lambskin, retaining all the signature details — quilting, CC turnlock, and flap construction. The chain strap, however, extends into a dog leash, which was styled around the models wrist on the runway. In La Gazette, he quipped, “Because you have two accessories in New York: a dog and a coffee cup.”

The Giraffe Flap Bag

Chanel’s iconic Flap Bag gets a wild companion in this burgundy iteration. Quilting, CC turnlock, and double-chain shoulder strap keep it unmistakably Chanel, but a metal giraffe head peeks from one end while a tasselled tail swings from the other. Four long legs at the base complete the design — the only bag that truly stands tall in the city jungle. A tan version of the same design was also presented at the ReSee.

The Squirrel Mini Flap Bag

Keeping us moving, Chanel transports us straight to Central Park with the Squirrel Mini Flap Bag. This design mirrors its loftier sibling in construction, with quilting, and CC turnlock. Rendered in khaki lambskin, a gold-tone metal squirrel head peeks from one side. Its fluffy tail playfully extends along the single chain shoulder strap as it perches atop four miniature metal feet.

The Charming Flap Bag

A subtle twist on a classic, this single Flap Bag in caviar skips quilting entirely, letting its statement-making hardware steal the spotlight. The chain strap is decked out with charms spelling C‑H‑A‑N‑E‑L, while a colored, jewel-encrusted CC turnlock adds a glamorous flash.

The Tweed 11.12 Handbag

Arguably the most timeless piece in the Métiers d’Art 2026 lineup, the Tweed 11.12 Handbag is presented in quilted black and white tweed, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship of Lesage.

The Sequin Flap Bag for the Wild

A playful burst of texture on the platform, this seasonal Flap Bag was entirely covered in sequins arranged in a graphic leopard-print motif. Shades of mustard and ochre shimmered against black accents, catching the lights as the model clutched it by hand.

The Leopard Maxi Flap Bag

Scaling up the wild energy of the Sequin Leopard Flap, the Maxi Flap takes the print to new proportions. Crafted in intricately woven tweed, the oversized silhouette remains soft and slouchy, while its chain shoulder straps offer styling versatility.

The Tiger Flap Bag

Chanel adds to its big-cat lineup with the Tiger Flap Bag. Striking and bold, this piece channels a graphic tiger-print vibe in vivid orange and black, echoing the matching dress. Its frilled-edge flap adds a playful flourish, while the textured surface—composed of oversized sequins—gives the bag a modern, almost sculptural quality.

The Fluffy Flap Bag

Soft, oversized, and unapologetically cozy, this jumbo Flap Bag brings serious tactile appeal to the lineup. Rendered in a rich brown plush texture and finished with gold-tone hardware, it’s the kind of bag that doubles up as a pillow on long subway commutes.

The Popcorn Flap Bag

Chanel turns snack time into couture with the Popcorn Flap Bag. Crafted with a creamy base, the bag is accented with braided white-and-red trim, while tiny popcorn-shaped embellishments scatter across the surface. Styled with a matching jacket-and-skirt set on the runway, the look popped with personality.

The Tonight Or Never Flap Bag

Chanel channels theatre and cinematic glamour with the Tonight or Never Flap Bag, inspired by Lili Hatvany’s 1930 Broadway play. Entirely reimagined in shimmering sequins, the bag dazzles with a depiction of the iconic scene, complete with graphic font detailing.

The Flame Flap Bag

Adding an even more graphic edge to the lineup, the Flame Flap Bag commands attention. Rendered in what appears to be printed jersey in vivid yellow, fiery red, and inky black, its stylized flame motif was paired with the matching two-piece suit on the runway for a head-to-toe statement. Four eyelets, a double-chain shoulder strap, and the iconic CC turnlock complete the design.

The Poddle Fringe Flap Bag

A nod to Gatsby-era glamour, this glitzy Flap Bag features a white base lavishly adorned with cascading crystal tassels. Interspersed among the fringe, beaded detailing cleverly depicts a white poodle. Hiding beneath the layers of beading is a discreet CC turnlock.

The Gilded Reissue

Blazy has a knack for reworking the Reissue, and this latest iteration is an entirely new statement. Styled with the micro black skirt-and-jacket set, the Small Reissue features front and back panels in ornate gold plating, with an almost croc-inspired texture. Smooth black frames the sides, while the Mademoiselle turn-lock and jewel-like chain strap maintain the classic Reissue identity.

The Chanel 25 Mini

The Chanel 25 line already spans an impressive range of finishes — from classic leathers to tweeds to cozy shearling — and now it welcomes a new addition: a furry cheetah-print in the cute and compact mini size. While not seen on the runway, the Chanel 25 Mini was also showcased in a brown fur at the ReSee presentation.

The Bowling Bag & Minimalist Tote

A duo made for a busy day in the city— one bag for work, one for essentials. The Bowling Bag, crafted in black lambskin with flat quilted detailing, features a zip-top closure, gently curved edges, and double-chain top handles, complete with a front slip pocket and signature CC emblem.

Alongside it, the Minimalist Tote offers a paired back contrast in smooth burgundy leather, its gloried paper-bag silhouette accented by dual top handles, and a CC turnlock closure. The Tote also was presented in classic black, and beige.

The CC Tote

Blazy revisits a silhouette from his Spring-Summer 2026 debut, reimagining the CC Tote in a combination of suede and leather. The body features flat-quilted suede, while the base and handles are crafted in grained leather for durability. A front flap, also in leather, secures with the signature CC turn-lock, hinting at a discreet slip pocket underneath.

Later on the runway, the same tote appeared in beige suede with tan leather accents, casually layered with the models’ jackets atop. A plain black leather version, void of quilting, was also styled on the shoulder, offering a sleek, minimalist alternative.

The Envelope Tote

Another fold-over top option is the Envelope Tote, a semi-structured, single strap, open top bag in black. The burgundy interior carries through to the exterior, with a triangular flap in a chevron pattern at the front, likely concealing a discreet front slip pocket. The flap secures with a CC turnlock, while four protective feet ensure durability. This new design was styled both handheld and slung over the shoulder on the runway.

The Inside-Out Tote

Blazy continues his playful twist on heritage details with the Inside-Out Tote. Crafted in smooth burgundy leather, the streamlined silhouette features the familiar “CHANEL — Made in France” heat-stamp, typically hidden inside, now placed proudly on the exterior. A front zip pocket adds everyday practicality, while metal eyelets anchor refined chain straps.

The Minimal Flap

A continuation of Blazy’s clean-lined vision, the Spring-Summer 2026 Flap Bag hit the Métiers d’Art runway. Crafted from unquilted caviar leather, it balances a semi-structured form with a relaxed, slouchy ease, holding its shape while still feeling effortless. The silhouette is subtly oversized, and the traditional chain shoulder strap is replaced with an adjustable leather double strap threaded through four eyelets, allowing the bag to mold effortlessly when worn on the shoulder.

The Suede Tote

Whether you call it a tote or a bucket bag, Blazy’s new chocolate-brown suede design marries city practicality with refined structure. Its roomy silhouette is balanced by a defined body, while slim, adjustable leather shoulder straps offer versatility. A tab closure secured with a CC turn-lock keeps essentials in place.

The Shoulder Bag

Channeling timeless vibes, this flat-quilted shoulder bag is crafted in sleek black leather and elevated with clean, silver-tone hardware. Double chains attach directly to the body, keeping the silhouette minimal yet distinctly modern, while subtle CC accents quietly assert the Maison’s signature. Styled on the shoulder on the runway, it strikes a balance between timeless references and contemporary ease.

The V-Cut Tote

A fresh silhouette hit the runway with the V-Cut Classic Flap, bringing an edgy twist to Chanel’s timeless codes. Crafted in smooth black leather, with flat quilting detail, the bag features a deep V-shaped cutout at the center front, revealing a rich burgundy lining and an inner compartment secured with a vintage-inspired CC kiss-lock closure. Leather top handles extend seamlessly from the body, while a long chain shoulder strap offers shoulder styling.

This design was also presented in a black and white calf hair version at the Chanel ReSee, adorned with a Chrysler Building bag charm.

The Trapezoid Full Flap Bag

Following the V-Cut bags debut, the Trapezoid Flap introduces a more structured, archival-inspired silhouette. Its quilted body is framed with smooth leather, while a full flap secures with the iconic CC turnlock. Styled by hand on the runway, the bag also includes an adjustable shoulder strap that extends directly from the body.

The Zip Front Shoulder Bag

The new Shoulder Bag elevates classic code’s with a contemporary twist. Crafted from quilted burgundy lambskin leather, this chic shoulder bag features a slim leather leather strap which attaches to the bag with CC hardware details. Adorning the front, is a diagonal zippered pocket, with dual zip pulls. On one end, you’ll find a metal-and-enamel “Coco Chanel” charm, and the other, a black labrador—an affectionate homage to the animated short released ahead of the Métiers d’Art 2026 runway.

The Double CC Turnlock Belt Bag

Blazy appears to have drawn inspiration from the iconic 1990s Triple Turn-lock bag, reworking it into a double-turn-lock belt bag for the Métiers d’Art 2026 runway. Crafted in burgundy quilted lambskin, it features a gold-tone double CC turn-lock closure, while the adjustable strap allows it to be worn slung over the shoulder or at the waist.

The Oversized Clutch

A decidedly slouchy, pillow-like pouch, this oversized clutch was rendered in grained leather in Chanel’s take on the color Étoupe. The front was punctuated with a stitched CC emblem, while a zip-top fastening kept the roomy interior secure. Carried under the arm on the runway, it brought an effortless feel.

For a touch of the exotic aesthetic, the same design also appeared in a mock-croc in a rich brown tone.

The East-West Cylinder Bag

Paired perfectly with Chanel’s morning Americano, the east-west cylindrical bag exudes vintage vibes. Crafted from plush quilted velvet, it features a zip-top closure and circular ends accented by an oversized gold-tone CC logo — reminiscent of the encased CC hardware of ’80s and ’90s Chanel pieces. A black rope-like handle and ornate tassel detail complete the look.

Crafted in smooth black lambskin with a chevron-quilted design, it channels a sleek, streamlined silhouette. The flap secures with a CC turnlock, and while it includes a flat top handle, it was clutched on the runway.
