Gucci Version of a Special Order - The DIY Collection

I was delighted to stumble upon this special Gucci event at Bergdorf Goodman in NYC last week.
So intrigued I decided to spend some time to understand the process and snap up tons of pictures to share with those of you not lucky enough to see it yourself at one of the 13 locations it’s being offered at (not even Chicago, LOL) here in the US.

Gucci is offering for a limited time the opportunity to custom create the details of pre-decided selection of bags. Each style has it’s own ‘special’ offerings to personalize. The patchwork pieces, leather types and colors – to the linings… you can have the interiors personalized with your initials and there’s even one style that allows for your initial patches on the outside of the Dionysus. You can select from exotic skins like crocodile and python, to plain leather/suede that comes in a myriad of shades. Some offerings are special order only! Sounds a bit like our Hermes SO – doesn’t it…

It’s a fun creative process if you are in the market for one of these Gucci treasures. Play with bees, dragonflies, tigers and lizards – or flowers like peonies, roses & lotus.

There are definitely limitations to the amount you can customize. To give you an idea, the example I share below (my personal favorite) allowed for the following:
– the hardware buckle – choices of the colored stones in the hardware
– the pink suede part peeking below the flap and sides leather and color could be selected.
– the lining could be changed
– add stamped initials to the interior

What you could NOT do:
– change the patches or placement of them
– change the patch words or add any other

The cost of this piece was $5800 and I was told would take 10-12 weeks.
Feel free to ask me questions below…
