If you’re a baseball fan (or maybe just American), the number 42 holds a special meaning. It was the number of the barrier-breaking baseballer, Jackie Robinson.
For US Hermès aficionados, it is now the number of boutiques in the United States as the Maison opened its forty-second store on September 12, 2025, in Scottsdale, Arizona. According to Hermès, this is its first location in Arizona. Located in the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall, the bi-level boutique takes cues from the Sonoran Desert and the artisanship of the area.
“The luminous interiors pay homage to the region’s sunlight and succulents, offering a welcoming environment in which to discover the house’s sixteen métiers.”
Ceramic tiles from Mexico are intended to reference “the resilient beauty of the desert cacti,” alongside soft pastel shades and natural light.
“The design blends a natural and whimsical interpretation of the local flora. Drawing on tonal pastels, shimmering metallic detailing and organic elements, the soothing architectural narrative is infused with Sonoran light and subtropical verve.”
As is the case in many Hermès boutiques, a selection of artwork from the Emile Hermès collection decorates the interior walls. This includes a series of black and white photographs by American Jane Atwood’s “Horse” series.
