Fashion Week is a time for the best designers in the biz to premier a fresh, novel, unique new collection for the season. Funded by some of the worlds leading corporate sponsors, Fashion Week in New York City is the number one place for fashionistas of all sorts to see and be seen. The fashion shows are attended by journalists, buyers, celebrities, bloggers and social types. The shows are invitation-only and each designer is responsible for their own guest list. Held twice a year, one for fall and one for spring in NYC’s 8-acre Bryant park that is converted into a temporary fashion arena with tents, the shows are meant to predict which of the runway trends will make the leap into the retail stores — and the closets of women across the country.
Initially Fashion Week was created as a trade event where designers used the runway to showcase to buyers and retailers what was available for their boutiques to purchase each season. In years past, however, Fashion week around the globe has become entertainment and the ultimate place to be. Designers are now getting more and more creative with their runway settings, theme’s, music, lavish parties and charity events for maximum exposure to their latest collection. Fashion Designers everywhere are now making a conscious effort to have their front rows filled with the hottest celebrities, latest it-girls and most popular bloggers to create a buzz worthy, must-see show and gotta-have-it-now collection. This gives them another way of presenting their most recent designs before even media coverage release in magazines or on the web.

Lauren Conrad celebrated with friends her NYFW premier yesterday. Her very first runway collection “LCRunway” for Khols was true to her own style with a muted color palette, soft lace, flowy skirts and lots of pleats. Congrats, LC!
