Although we’re forever enamored with Hermes’ iconic bags like the Birkin and Kelly, it’s time to take a moment to appreciate a new style ‘hot off the press’.
Coming up for the Spring, Hermes is releasing a new version of the “Verrou” bag. The Verrou bag was released in 2010 and has been a rare style. The bag’s most unique feature is its sleek, bolt lock closure. The original Verrou bag is a rectangular pochette or clutch bag. However, for the SS17 collection, Hermes is releasing the Verrou as a shoulder bag complete with a strap.
In terms of silhouette, the Verrou is very structured and about the size of a Constance 24 bag. The Verrou has a chic, minimalist aesthetic and can almost be compared to a cross between a Hermes Constance and Chanel Boy Bag. The strap configures exactly like the Constance. It has the little feet of a Birkin, keeping it’s base tidy and standing strong and is very light weight. There is a back pocket similar to that on the Chanel jumbo making it a perfect place for any size iphone.
Price approx $8000 plus change.
“There will be a mini version with a chain as the strap that looked adorable in pictures, perfect for evenings “, says PurseBop. I assume expected to arrive later this S/S. Their were some bright colored choices.
Are you liking the sound of the Verrou?? If you do, you better find a way to get your hands on one! There were only 30 stores to release the bag worldwide. Recently in Chicago, PurseBop had the opportunity to see one of the new Verrou bags in Gris Mouette (pictures below).

I was shown this yesterday by a newish saleslady at Hermes in the Wonder Room at Selfridges. I could not fit my reading glasses in the SOFTsided case in this handbag so beware! And also was not very impressed. Nor am I impressed by how often there are complete changes in sales staff these days in many of Hermes boutiques in Europe! And at the very least could someone please make sure that the sales staff have good training before you release them onto the selling floor to MISINFORM potential clients!
Yes, I am a long time client, as were mom and grandmother, but this is getting irksome and RIDICULOUS! This is a HERITAGE brand with long tradition. It is intolerable that I knew the Verrou style had come out previously as a clutch. Ridiculous and unacceptable that she cannot tell the colour ‘aubergine’ from ‘aenome’ and insists that some pastel ‘violene’ is aubergine! I did NOT even by a scarf yesterday! I just walked out and went to the food hall for some caviar and vodka!!
And yes, the sales staff at mothership at FSH and even rue de Sevres Rive Gauche are almost as ignorant. The ones at Bond Street are simply arrogant—anyone who has read any of my earlier posts knows I never go into that boutique anymore. If I want a lousey, unpersonalized experience, I can shop on the official Hermes website!
Sorry for the rant! But do be sure you try to put your basics in this bag before you splurge—I would not put my mobile phone in any back flap so it goes inside my bag, plus eyeglasses, lipstick, compact, wallet, keys and whatever you personally cannot live without. I just cannot go below a Birkin 25. Is it only me?
Hope you enjoyed the Hermes sale in Paris more than I enjoyed the new price increased goods at Hermes in London!

Hi! I replied on instagram earlier to PurseBop. Hermes has a way of good marketing strategy. ? These are the bags already shown to me by my SA in my local store… so I’m guessing there should be more than 30 released in the world . ?
