There is a particular hum in Paris these days — a Chanel hum. Editors, clients, and collectors have been moving quietly but purposefully through the city’s flagship boutiques, navigating waitlists and limited stock from Blazy’s Spring–Summer 2026 collection. “We haven’t seen this in a very long time. It’s been difficult to keep up with the demand,” a Rue Cambon sales associate told Vogue.

That energy carried through to the Grand Palais, a home of sorts for Chanel, as Matthieu Blazy presented the Autumn–Winter 2026 collection on March 9. Attendees donned their finest, or favorite, Chanel pieces, with some sporting standout designs from the early Parisian launch of the Spring–Summer 2026 collection, all in anticipation of the next seasonal chapter of Blazy’s new-age Chanel.

As with Blazy’s Spring-Summer 2026 fashion show, invitations came in the form of a pendant necklace. This time, silver-tone measuring tape engraved with the show details adorned the chain.

Showtime
Beneath the Grand Palais dome, the runway stretched beneath a series of colorful illuminated cranes that loomed overhead, giving the space the feel of a work in progress.
And while the first looks were casual and simple—knit jackets with knee-length skirts—Blazy’s true vision quickly emerged as he played with proportion and volume, highlighting pleats, dropped shoulders, hints of lingerie, and extremely low-waist skirts (a Coco signature) accented with belts resting lightly atop the thigh. Fabrics shimmered in metallics; feathers, fringe, and lace added texture; and tweed kept things grounded in classic Chanel. Two-tone square-toe pumps stepped up and down, large chunky jewelry graced necks and ears, as the collection played with contrast between the 1920s flapper era and today.

The collection unfolded in an erratic sequence, moving from highly metallicized, colorful looks with models sporting glitter in their hair, to the familiar restraint of classic Chanel monochrome. Color punctuated the lineup throughout: statement deep rusts and reds, pops of pink, soft grays, and neutral tones alternated with timeless black gowns. As Chanel describes it: “Day and night, simplicity and iridesence. An ongoing conversation between Gabrielle Chanel and Matthieu Blazy.”
Against this series of contrasts, the “under construction” set felt in sync with Blazy’s approach: expansive, exploratory, and unafraid to play with form, color, and texture, a Maison constantly in motion.

Chanel Fall-Winter 2026 New Bags
The Fall–Winter 2026 lineup offered another look at Blazy’s ongoing reinterpretation of Chanel’s codes, blending archival references with subtle surprises in shape, finish, and detail. Several pieces first introduced in his Spring–Summer 2026 debut and the Métiers d’Art 2026 lineup, returned in fresh colorways and fabrications, alongside a selection of entirely new styles.

Chic vintage-inspired clutch bags appeared intermittently between maxi flap styles in croc embossed calfskin and soft, slouchy suede hobo styles. Signature Chanel codes were reinterpreted throughout: classic Chanel quilted leather was flattened, moving away from the puffy iterations. Meanwhile, Classic Flap styles doubled up, literally, featuring dual turnlocks for a layered effect.
Here’s a closer look at the handbags shaping the Fall–Winter 2026 collection.
Chanel Layered Classic Flap Bag
Blazy takes the 2.55 Reissue and classic 11.12 silhouette to a new dimension with the layered flap bag. Crafted from puffy quilted lambskin, this double-flap design doubles down on the Maison’s iconic closures: the lower flap is secured with a Mademoiselle turn-lock, while a second, higher flap fastens with a CC turn-lock. The chain detailing mirrors this duality, combining a section of Bijoux-style chain with the traditional interwoven leather-and-metal strap. The style was presented in black, dark beige, each accented with shiny gold-tone hardware.

Chanel 2.55 Reissue
Coco Chanel’s original 2.55 design continues to be a canvas for Blazy, this time with adornment rather than rigid construction. Crafted in quilted lambskin rather than the usual aged calfskin, the bag retains the signature Mademoiselle turnlock and Bijoux chain. Its standout feature: bold strands of chain draping across the body, anchored to the lock for a striking effect. The new take on the 2.55 Reissue was presented in black and beige.
The same design was also showcased in a single flap Clutch with Chain style with a single Bijoux chain strap.

Chanel Classic 11.12 Handbags
Beyond new renditions of Chanel’s classic silhouettes, Blazy experimented with surface design on the signature 11.12 Handbag. One style was pale pink lambskin beneath a satin overlay, creating an ethereal, almost sheer effect. Forgoing quilting, the focus instead turned to intricate embroidered florals finished with delicate beading.

Not every classic was dramatically reimagined. The 11.12 Flap appeared in baby blue quilted lambskin, accented with scattered red enamel floral charms and styled open on the runway.

A classic tweed rendition also appeared, rendered in a textural mix of beige, gray, and white.

Chanel Trapezeoid Flap Bag
Did Chanel anticipate that the Maxi Flap Bag from Spring-Summer 26 would fly out of stores before the global release? Perhaps. For Fall–Winter 2026, the House introduces a similar—yet distinctly different—take on the concept with the new trapezoid silhouette.
Building on the Maxi Flap’s modern minimalism, the design retains slim adjustable double leather straps and a clean, architectural feel. Presented on the runway worn over the shoulder and carried by hand, the bag offers a structured reinterpretation of the classic flap style.
This new style appeared in two variations: one with a flat-quilted body, and another crafted from grained calfskin without quilting for a more pared-back finish. Both versions are secured with a CC closure that rotates open—rather than the traditional center turn-lock of the Classic Flap—offering a subtle but distinctive update to the iconic fastening.
The bags were shown in dark beige, black, and deep brown in the larger sizes, each paired with gold-tone hardware, while a mini version was also presented handheld on the runway in a rich emerald green suede with leather trim.

Chanel Maxi Flap Bag
From Blazy’s Spring–Summer 2026 debut, the Maxi Flap Bag returned in both of its “maxi” sizes, updated for Fall–Winter in croc-embossed calfskin: the larger in deep olive green, the slightly smaller in vibrant red. The design retains its non-quilted construction, featuring an adjustable leather strap instead of a classic interwoven leather chain.

The bag was also presented in a tweed rendition offering a softer form, woven in shades of purple, white, and black with flecks of fuchsia and olive green. This version replaced the leather strap with a delicately beaded design in matching tones, harmonizing with the fabric and adding an additional dose of texture.

The Maxi Flap style debuted in a new, smaller size, featuring a bold take on tweed, with a matching ensemble. Fluffy red tweed frames the sides and trim, while the central body is left unfinished, creating a semi-sheer effect that hints at the fabric’s underlying structure. The bag retains the original Maxi’s adjustable leather strap and secures with a CC turn-lock, presented exclusively in red.

Other Chanel Flap Bags
Stripped of its quilting, the smooth leather Flap Bag finds its edge. Metal trim traces the outline of the trapezoidal silhouette, as the classic CC turn-lock and leather-enlaced shoulder straps ensure the bag remains Chanel. Shown in black and dark beige.

Staying close to the House’s classic codes, Blazy continues to experiment with structure and hardware in the Flap Bag lineup. Two Mini Flap Bags made their debut on the runway, each offering a fresh take on the iconic silhouette.
The first reinterprets the Mini Flap Bag in beige caviar leather, rendered with flat quilting and secured with a CC turn-lock. A single fixed leather-interwoven chain strap threads through the exterior, anchored with subtle hardware detailing for a modern twist. The same design language was applied to a black rectangular version in smooth leather, carried handheld.

Beyond the glossy croc-embossed iterations, Blazy introduces the Maxi Flap silhouette in a matte beige variation, The design stays true to the Maxi Flap’s bold proportions, featuring the signature double-chain shoulder straps and a prominent, maxi-sized CC turn-lock.

Unmissable on the runway was a bold faux-fur Maxi Flap, fluffy and oversized to double as a pillow. Rendered in a grizzly mix of black, white, and hints of red, the bag revealed a CC turn-lock on a leather tab beneath the plush exterior. Chain shoulder straps completed the look, styled on the model’s shoulder.

Continuing the graphic motif seen throughout the ready-to-wear, a seasonal Flap Bag appeared fully encrusted in black-and-white sequins. The painterly surface mirrored similar patterns within the collection. Though fitted with a long chain shoulder strap, the bag was carried by hand, allowing the bold, textured design to take center stage.

Following the sequined statement piece, a single Flap Bag in soft ecru shimmered with tonal sequins and delicate ostrich feathers, bringing a light, textured contrast to the lineup.

On the smaller end, a rectangular Flap Mini in burgundy croc-embossed calfskin added a playful edge. Its fixed chain strap featured cascading “C H A N E L” lettering charms, giving the bag a whimsical touch while remaining unmistakably sophisticated.

Chanel Flap Bags with Top Handles
From the Métiers d’Art 2026 New York subway to the Grand Palais in Paris, Chanel’s Flap Bag with Top Handle returns styled handheld by its signature curved top handle, anchored with gold studs. The front flap secures with a CC turn-lock, while a chain shoulder strap drapes across the silhouette for added versatility.
For Fall–Winter 2026, the lineup features two distinct silhouettes and finishes. The first is a smooth black leather version with a subtly elongated shape (also presented in brown faux-croc), while the second is a more square-shaped design in glossy brown faux-croc, featuring a statement top handle accented with gold-tone hardware.

Also in for Fall-Winter 2026, is its cylindrical sibling. An east–west barrel shape mirrors the original’s flap front closure and CC turnlock, curved top handle and draped chain strap. This season, it shone in a pearlescent finish, catching subtle hints of purple in certain lights.

A style that didn’t appear on the runway was revealed at the Chanel Re-See. Taking cues from the Métiers d’Art 2026 styles, it adopts the curved leather top handle and chain strap detailing in a compact pochette silhouette. The bag features a zip-top opening and a petite CC emblem on the body. Crafted in croc-embossed pearlescent shades of turquoise and pale pink, the style is finished with gold-tone hardware.

Echoing the metallic and ethereal segment of the runway, Chanel presented a Flap Bag with Top Handle in a luminous turquoise shade with a subtle pearlescent sheen. The jewel-like design was adorned with botanical-inspired charms, including a sculpted leaf affixed to the side of the bag and a delicate flower charm that draped from the handle. Instead of the usual leather top handle, this version featured fixed gold-tone double top handles, enhancing the bag’s ornamental, almost jewelry-like appeal.
The same style was also presented in a larger, quilted lambskin version, in a forest green shade.

Chanel Hobo Bags
Indian model and newly appointed Chanel House Ambassador Bhavitha Mandava was the first to carry Chanel’s new Hobo silhouette on the runway. Rendered in flat-quilted leather and suede, the semi-structured design combines a soft, slouchy body with a more rigid base and sides, creating a subtle, curved profile that flows naturally thanks to its zip-top fastening.
Adorned with a CC emblem on the body, the Hobo was presented in several iterations: the beige suede and black and green leather styles featured a classic leather-interlaced chain strap, while a dark beige grained calfskin version swapped the chain for the adjustable slim leather strap first seen on Blazy’s coveted Maxi Flap. In all versions, the strap or chain threads through a metal-plated slot on the side of the bag and is secured with a CC emblem.

A new shoulder bag style nods to the Chain Around Bag from 2008–12, reinterpreted here in a relaxed hobo silhouette. Crafted from flat-quilted leather in a deep green shade, the design features a distinctive chain-and-leather strap that wraps around the exterior of the bag before continuing seamlessly into the shoulder strap. Worn high on the shoulder on the runway, the piece updates the archival concept with a softer, more contemporary shape.

Rounding out the Hobo offerings, the smaller of the new silhouettes takes a fully slouchy approach, forgoing structure entirely in favor of a soft, fluid form rendered in smooth, flat-quilted lambskin. Its gently curved profile flows effortlessly from the open-top design, which secures with a magnetic fastening, while Blazy’s now-signature thin adjustable leather strap allows it to be carried by hand, as seen on the runway, or on the shoulder. Hardware placement gives the bag its distinctive character: instead of a traditional CC turn-lock, two oversized CC emblems anchor the strap where it attaches to the body, lending a nod to vintage Chanel styling. The design was presented in a burgundy shade, alongside a croc-embossed khaki design, both paired with gold-tone hardware.

Chanel Shopping Bags
With the vibes of the Supermodel Tote revived for Spring-Summer 2026, a downsized iteration reimagines the style in a more everyday-friendly silhouette. Crafted from grained calfskin, the Small Shopping Bag retains the signature flap tab closure adorned with the interlocking CC emblem, while long all-leather shoulder straps — notably without chain — allow it to slip easily over heavier layers and winter outerwear.

The Executive Tote reintroduced in Spring–Summer 2026 also returns in a new colorway. Paying homage to the 2005 original, it maintains a sleek, structured silhouette with a front slip pocket secured by a CC turnlock and has been updated with slightly elongated top handles. For Fall–Winter 2026, the style appeared in vibrant fuchsia.

Chanel Bucket Bag
This structured bucket bag shares design cues with the Métiers d’Art 2026 top-handle flap bags, also seen on the runway. Crafted from flat-quilted beige lambskin, the silhouette features a flap top secured with a CC turn-lock. A distinctive curved top handle, anchored with gold studs like the flap bag styles, allows for handheld wear, while a long chain shoulder strap provides versatile styling.

Chanel Clutches
Clutch styles were scattered throughout the Fall–Winter 2026 runway, each carrying serious vintage vibes while nodding to Blazy’s modern sensibility.
The first was a half-moon silhouette in deep brown croc-embossed calfskin, featuring a rigid frame and a CC-adorned tab closure.

Included in the grouping is a pochette style, with a subtle trapeze silhouette. The top bar snaps securely closed, accented with a tab featuring a CC emblem for a nod to vintage purse detailing. The same design was also presented in an elongated version in dark brown croc-embossed leather.

Another crescent-shaped silhouette appeared, featuring a gently rounded top and a subtle V-shaped bottom that gives the bag a slightly slouchy, sculptural form. A structured gold-tone band wraps around the upper edge, both defining the shape and securing the closure. Two variations were shown on the runway: a glossy black croc-embossed version and a flat-quilted beige suede iteration, each adorned with a tiny CC emblem.
This style was also presented in croc-embossed calfskin in a khaki shade at the Re-See.

Returning from Spring–Summer 2026 is the rectangular clutch defined by its cut-out, emerged CC emblem, presented in smooth red, black, and dark beige lambskin, alongside a more eye-catching iteration in crinkled, high-shine flat- silver — all finished with gold-tone hardware.
The shoulder-bag variation also reappeared, updated in high-shine black croc-embossed leather and a plain dark beige lambskin with a more trapezoid silhouette.

Chanel Minaudières
The iconic NYC subway apple minaudière has made way for a new fruity favorite: the pomegranate. Suspended from a short leather-interlaced chain, this jewel-like mini bag brings a burst of color and whimsy to the lineup. In real life, the seedy, juicy, messy, sweet fruit in many cultures symbolizes prosperity, fertility, and abundance.

Continuing the organic-inspired lineup, a Lima bean-shaped Minaudière appeared in a sculptural hard-shell design. Its surface is composed of gently curved, tile-like panels that catch the light with subtle iridescence. Carried by hand on the runway, the silhouette is framed with gold-tone metal trim and adorned with a CC emblem, while turquoise tones shimmer with flecks of pink and purple.

Continuing the focus on luminous textures, a hard-case box bag appeared in pearlescent white, catching the light with a soft, refracted shimmer. The compact silhouette is anchored by a fixed gold-tone metal top handle.

Referencing Chanel’s iconic quilting in an abstract form, this oval-shaped Minaudière features a distinctive cage-like design that encases a tortoiseshell-inspired hard-shell interior. Carried by hand on the runway, the design is finished with a CC emblem at the top.

Last but not least, a pillbox-sized Minaudière hit the runway. Easy to overlook, this tiny gold-tone design was suspended from a long, delicate black leather–interwoven chain. Its shape, reminiscent of a coffee bean, is accented with a CC emblem sitting prominently at the top.
