Dear PurseBop:
I am traveling to Paris this summer and hoping to purchase more than one non-quota bag. Is that even possible in Paris or is there a limit on how many bags may be purchased in each leather appointment?
Dear Non-Quota Bag Purchaser:
It is never easy to state definitively the policies in place at any given time at a Hermès boutique, particularly in Paris. Often the policies change, exceptions are granted, or merely not enforced for certain clients. It usually depends on the Sales Associate and the day, time, availability, amount of requests, and many other factors.
In our experience, and based on reports from our community members, a client may be permitted to purchase two non-quota bags during one leather appointment. However, if a quota bag is offered as well, some SA’s allow one additional non-quota bag to be purchased at the same time. However, if a Kelly Pochette, Kelly Cut, or other Kelly derivative is offered, a second bag is not usually offered as well. Again, exceptions are possible.
We have reported that it is getting more and more difficult to secure one bag at a leather appointment, and two bags are even more challenging. It is best to keep your expectations low and your hopes high. If you get a leather appointment request one bag or a series of possibilities. When a bag is offered and accepted feel free to ask for a second non-quota bag in a polite and respectful manner. If the requested bag is a Picotin, In The Loop, Garden Party, Herbag, etc. and bags are available it is possible to secure a second bag.
Good luck and happy shopping.
