Is Hermès Paris Globally Linked to all Countries with Respect to Monitoring Quota Bag Offers?

I need clarification about Hermès’ quota system. Is Australia now linked to Hermès Paris? Does this mean that if I have already purchased two quota bags at my local Sydney boutique, I would not be eligible to get a quota bag in Paris, even if I have won the leather appointment there?

Dear Global Quota System:

It is our understanding, based on many community members reports and our own experience, that Hermès Paris is globally linked to all locations outside Paris with respect to quota bags only. This includes Australia, the U.K., Europe, Asia, and the U.S.

This means that if you receive a leather appointment in Paris via the lottery, as a walk-in, or even with a SA you have a prior relationship, before a quota bag is offered your profile is checked to determine if you have already received 2 quota bags during the present calendar year. If so, without an exception being made (which is possible), a quota bag will likely not be offered.

The calendar year is from January 1 – December 31.

Paris Hermès cannot see one’s purchase history in their home store, and may or may not be able to see the date each quota bag was purchased.

However, they can see your purchase history in Paris and what quota and non-quota bags you received during the present year. We have reports that Paris is instituting a time limit between quota bags received in Paris of 4-6 months before the offer of another bag.

It is true that it is getting more challenging to get a leather appointment in all three boutiques. It is also no guarantee you will be offered a quota bag even at a lottery appointment. Many factors affect the offer of a quota bag including luck, timing, SA relationship, whether this is your first quota bag, and more.

Remember to travel to Paris with your expectations of receiving a quota bag realistic. Remain hopeful but keep your expectations low to avoid being disappointed.
