Is It Possible to Be Offered a Birkin in Hermès Boutiques Outside of Paris (i.e. Monte Carlo, Nice, Cannes, Monaco, etc) Without an Existing Relationship?

Question:

I’ll be going to the south of France this summer and was wondering if it’s even possible to purchase a Birkin (or any quota bag) during my visit and if appointments are required similar to Paris.

Dear South of France Traveler:

Yes, it is possible to purchase a quota bag in other locations in France such as the South of France. We have received reports of travelers purchasing Birkins and Kellys in Cannes, Monaco, and St. Tropez as well as other areas around France.

However, be prepared to shop and hopefully buy items such as ready to wear, home goods, jewelry, etc. that you love. Connecting with a SA is important as in all locations. And showing our knowledge and love of the brand is always helpful.

However, a community member mentioned that the first thing the SA asked was whether they had a profile in France. The travelers without profiles were not offered quota bags, but may be offered non quota bags. With a profile, she was offered a quota bag that met her specifications. It is definitely worth a try.

The prices in Europe are all the same for Hermès and all luxury shopping. VAT refunds are also available. However, be sure to declare all purchases when arriving home in the U.S. or other home country.

To our knowledge appointments are not required but could be helpful to show you are a serious buyer. There is not an online lottery appointment system in other locations in France, only in Paris.

Happy Traveling.
