Is Shopping at Hermès Online Irresponsible If My Goal is an Offer of a Quota Bag?

Does the Hermès online shopping profile count towards spending quota? I have made significant purchases online in both the US and Spain and I am afraid no one looks at that. I live in both locations. Am I purchasing irresponsibly if I have European, US, and online spend? Thanks!

Hermès spending, whether online or in-store, is generally linked to the profile under which the purchases were made. However, online purchases don’t usually count towards your in-store profile or quota spend unless the Hermès store explicitly agrees to associate the online purchases with your local account. However, this is rare.

Shopping online at Hermes is not the best practice if your desire is to be offered one of their highly coveted leather bags. No relationship is established when buying online. Although your purchases definitely show your loyalty to the brand, they do not further a relationship with one Sales Associate which is key to being offered a leather bag.

The better practice is to concentrate on building a relationship with one Sales Associate in one Hermes location. That SA is able to order items online for you if they are not available in store. This benefits both you and the SA.

As tempting and easy as it is to order items online, we urge you to limit this practice. Focus on shopping in person with one SA in each country you live, and you will be offered your dream bag in due time. Be sure to explain to your new SA that you have made many purchases online. Ask if there is any way those purchases could be recognized in your profile for purposes of being offered a bag. It is possible they will consider those purchases.

Your approach isn’t necessarily wrong, but being strategic is key. If you’re aiming for quota bags, consolidating major spending with one store or SA will likely yield better results. If you can ensure all your purchases (online and in-store) are visible to the SA you’re working with, it will strengthen your profile and increase your chances of being offered a Kelly or Birkin.
