Dear PurseBop:
Is there a minimum waiting period at FSH and the other Hermès boutiques in Paris between quota bag offers? I was offered and purchased a black Birkin 25 in January of this year. I am planning to return to Paris in June which will be almost 5 months later?
Dear Second Quota Bag Offer:
Based on reports from community members and personal experience, the 3 boutiques in Paris appear to be enforcing a 6-month waiting period between quota bag purchases. The philosophy is that if a customer purchases two quota bags early in the year they will be barred from purchasing another either in Paris or at their home store (since the systems have been linked in many countries) and there will be nothing to look forward to in the future.
Whether the 6-month rule is flexible or can be waived in certain circumstances is not clear. As we know Hermès rules tend to apply to some but may not apply to all. Nevertheless, we have reports from VVIP’s who were refused an offer of a second quota bag because it was too close to the prior purchase.
Since you plan to return to Paris in 5 months we recommend managing your expectations and be prepared if you are refused. If you have a dedicated SA it would be wise to ask if the 6-month rule will apply during your visit.
Good luck and report back with your experience upon your return.
