Say Hello to ‘Bobby’ – Dior’s Latest Handbag Release

Dior recently launched its Fall 2020 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the highlight of which was the ‘Bobby’ Bag. Many would be familiar with the significance of the name ‘Bobby’ in a Dior collection.

Christian Dior had a beloved four legged friend named Bobby. A superstitious man, Dior always named the most promising suit in every collection after his pooch. The newly launched Bobby bag, is therefore a tribute to the maestro and his buddy.

The Dior Bobby Bag is a hobo style sling bag that is easy to carry on the go. Made from box calf leather, with smooth curves and the signature CD emblem on the magnetic clasp closure, it can be worn on the shoulder, cross body or carried by hand.

The bag’s detachable straps have a military style buckle and can be matched or customised to stand out against the bag’s otherwise sober style.

The hardware on the bag has an antique gold finish. With a flexible suede interior and two flat pockets – one on the inside and out, the bag has all the basics in place that render it high on comfort and usability.

The Embossed ’30 Montaigne’ signature on the back, in our opinion, subtly adds a touch of flamboyance to this otherwise muted yet elegant style.

The Bobby Bag is available in-store and online in three sizes: small (18cm x 14cm x 5cm), medium (22cm x 17cm x 6cm) and large (27cm x 19.5cm x 8cm). Initially launched in four colors: black, cream, camel, and blue oblique canvas, a grey has recently been added to the collection.
