Studs, Style, and Serious Attitude

Hermès has always been a master of timeless elegance, but every so often, the Maison shakes things up with a bold twist on tradition. The Clouté Collection – “Clouté” meaning “studded” in French – is exactly that. A fresh take on classic luxury, where glossy Box calfskin meets polished palladium studs for a look that’s equal parts refined and rebellious.

But before we dive into the Clouté collection, it’s worth remembering that the Maison’s love affair with studs goes back nearly a century. In 1927, a daring client requested a belt inspired by a dog collar, sparking the creation of the Collier de Chien line—distinguished by its pyramid nail-head studs. Since then, the collection has expanded to include jewelry, belts, footwear, scarf motifs, and even its own dedicated Médor bag collection. This legacy of edgy detailing laid the groundwork for Hermès to take things a step further with a fresh, daring collection.

The Hermès Clouté Collection
Enter the Clouté Collection — Hermès’ boldest and most coveted studded lineup to date. Unveiled during the Fall-Winter 2023 Objects Presentation, it featured just two standout designs: the Sac Constance III Miroir Clouté and the Sac Kelly II Sellier Clouté. Glossy black Box calfskin serves as the canvas for polished palladium spherical studs, which adorn only the front of each bag, creating a focused, striking statement. The carefully placed studs add texture and attitude, crafting a refined biker-chic aesthetic that feels modern yet unmistakably Hermès.

The Minaudière Sanglons, originally introduced in the Spring-Summer 2025 collection, now steps into the Clouté spotlight. This compact clutch returns reimagined in cream Box calfskin, its front panel punctuated with polished palladium studs for just the right amount of attitude. Sleek and sculptural, the Minaudière Sanglons reinterprets the Kelly’s iconic swivel clasp as an oversized central closure, adding a refined touch of heritage charm.

Not to be outdone, the Clouté Constance also makes a striking comeback, completing the collection’s trifecta with effortless style. Crafted in the same creamy Box calfskin, it carries the signature polished palladium studs that define the Clouté aesthetic. Together, these three bags complete Hermès’ studded lineup for Fall-Winter 2025 with a serious chic attitude.

This deep, Bleu Abysse Box calfskin Kelly has been slowly trickling into select boutiques. At first glance, it may appear almost black, but alongside the original black Sac Kelly II Sellier Clouté, its rich marine tones truly come to life.

They say the best things come in orange boxes, but the even more elusive Hermès bags come in the coveted blue-lined boxes. Along with that added exclusivity, these pieces carry higher retail prices. The Sac Mini Kelly II Clouté retails for $29,200 in the U.S. and €20,700 in Europe, while the Clouté Constance currently retails for €22,200 across European boutiques.
