Whether you loved it or weren’t quite ready for the change, Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel debut sparked plenty of conversation — and now, the first bags from his Spring-Summer 2026 Pre-Collection are arriving in boutiques.

Serving as a taste of what’s to come, Blazy approaches the Maison’s handbags with a careful sense of refinement. Rather than relying on Chanel’s most recognizable signatures, like quilting, he experiments with subtle hardware and designs where material and shape take the lead. Surprisingly for a Spring-Summer Pre-Collection, the colorways lean toward richer, autumnal tones — Dark Burgundy, Dark Brown, Black, and Deep Blue. Among the most talked-about arrivals is the highly anticipated, minimally coded Flap Bag lineup, first seen on the shoulders of Chanel global ambassadors Jennie of BLACKPINK and Lily-Rose Depp.

The New Small Flap Bag
Already one of the season’s most talked-about designs, the new Small Flap Bag – also known in the handbag community as the ‘Preppy Coco’ or the ‘26 Bag’— is finally here. Crafted from grained shiny calfskin, the bag forgoes traditional quilting in favor of a clean, minimalist aesthetic. It is offered in two sizes: the Small, measuring 5.9 × 8.7 × 2.8 inches, and the Mini version — officially named the Clutch with Leather Strap, which measures 4.5 × 6.7 × 2 inches. Building on the same minimalist direction, the collection includes Bowling and Vanity variations of this new Flap Bag, each echoing the pared-back aesthetic, subtle hardware, and elongated leather straps across new silhouettes. The Small Bowling Bag features a cylindrical silhouette measuring 3.9 x 8.1 x 3.9 inches, available in Light Beige, White, Black, Burgundy, Light Green and Light Pink.
Meanwhile, the Long Vanity with Leather Strap replaces the flap top closure with a zip-around top, secured by a CC-adorned tab. Measuring 3.7 x 6.7 x 3.1 inches, it comes in Light Pink, and Black.

Classic Handbags
Chanel’s Classic Flap Bags receive a subtle refresh for the Spring-Summer 2026 Pre-Collection, introducing new colorways that feel timeless rather than overtly seasonal. The 11.12 size arrives in muted shades like Dark Burgundy, Gray, Brown, Dark Beige, and a deep Navy Blue, across shiny grained calfskin and lambskin.
Tweed versions provide a touch of texture and pattern. The Classic 11.12 Handbag takes on a gingham-like design in quilted cotton tweed in two color combinations – Yellow, White and Ochre, and Black, Red and Ecru.

When it comes to minis, the Mini Classic Handbag is reimagined for Spring-Summer 2026 in Dark Blue denim, finished with contrasting orange stitching that gives it a jean-inspired look. Another version incorporates a woven blue and white, punctuated by subtle flecks of silver and finished with contrasting gold-tone hardware.

Other Flap Bags
Beyond the classics, Chanel offers a host of seasonal statement styles. Classic Chanel Monochrome leads with an entire lineup of options. Crafted from White smooth quilted lambskin, the Flap Bag is accented with distinctive Black braided calfskin trim, reminiscent of Chanel’s whipstitch bags from the early 2000s. I’ve been getting conflicting information about this, my boutique stated that this is still a studio collection, have you had confirmation that this collection is by Matthieu blazy? It is strange that different stores could be telling customers different things.
