Hermès’ Most Secretive Kelly Bag Yet

Not every Hermès innovation arrives with a runway moment or an announcement. Some appear quietly, stealthily, and the Kelly II Sellier 25 ‘Journey to the End of the Night’ edition is already generating quiet collector frenzy — could this be one of the most coveted Kellys in years?

Of course, this is no ordinary exotic Kelly. High fashion meets high jewelry in this standout piece, where 172 brilliant diamonds embellish leather, using a revolutionary, yet undisclosed technique. One hundred sixty four  Perle diamonds stud the classic shape, creating a design inspired by celestial constellations. Each diamond is carefully mapped across the body of the bag, echoing the natural dispersion of stars across the night sky. The starry effect continues onto the 18K white gold hardware plaque, where eight diamonds are set in line with the positions of the underlying nails that secure the piece. Its meticulous process reflects its namesake, requiring 40 hours of handwork — this bag truly is a Journey to the End of the Night.

This special bag is for hand carry only, with a top handle style used on only the most precious Kelly Himalaya with diamonds and the Kelly Midas. It forgoes the modern D-ring attachment in favor of the classic vintage-style ring. This choice protects the solid gold hardware from strap tension and reinforces the bag’s jewel-like style. After all, when your Kelly is essentially a bracelet of gold and diamonds, why would you want to go hands free?

Only time will tell if the Kelly II Sellier 25 ‘Journey to the End of the Night’ edition will reach full production. The Constellation concept itself isn’t entirely new. Hermès first teased a similar idea in 2015, though it never fully materialized. Its quiet return in 2025, a decade later, suggests the Maison has been refining not just the technique, but the vision.

Could it quietly become a benchmark for collectors, like the Himalaya or Kelly Midas? For now, this Kelly exists as a quiet evolution — proof that Hermès’ most significant innovations often don’t shout, they glow. And in this case, that glow is written across 172 diamonds, each placed with cosmic precision.
