As new creative head Jonathan Anderson imprints Dior with his mark, he continues to draw on the Maison’s history and codes across both ready-to-wear and handbags. Last season saw the creation of the Cigale, a new bag style based on a couture gown from Autumn-Winter 1952. Now, Dior’s Médaillon motif returns to the spotlight. Once seen across vintage flap bag designs and bowling bags, it re-emerges as a defining detail of the latest accessories, reworked across a new generation of silhouettes.

Inspired by the 18th-century Louis XVI-style Rococo-inspired chairs installed in Christian Dior’s first boutique in 1947, the motif has since travelled through the Dior universe, evolving across eras while retaining its distinctly Parisian identity. Previously appearing as a decorative accent and fastening on handbags, the defining element was the gold-tone oval Médaillon engraved with ‘CD’.
Now, the Médaillon oval has been reinterpreted and modernized with the ‘Dior’ signature, an ornate border, and wrapped up with a bow — a recurring House code under Anderson.

The motif now extends beyond handbags, appearing across ready-to-wear, footwear, belts, and scarves, before taking center stage in a new series of handbag designs for Fall-Winter 2026.
Let’s take a closer look at the two standout styles.

Dior Médaillon Flap Bag
History repeats itself with the new Dior Médaillon Flap Bag, as the motif returns as the central clasp, echoing the vintage flap bag designs. Taking on a flap-style construction, the silhouette echoes the proportions of the Dior Bobby, with a softly curved base and clean, understated lines. The flap closure mirrors this curve, and secures in the centre of the bag with the Médaillon clasp. Finished with a fully adjustable leather shoulder strap, the bag can be effortlessly styled crossbody, or on the shoulder.

The Dior Médaillon Flap Bag is available in Small and Medium sizes, across grained leather and Oblique jacquard, with prices starting at $3,750. Expanding the line, is the Small style offered with an adjustable chain shoulder strap – offering a more evening-ready take on the design.

| Dior Médaillon Flap Bag | Measurements (inches) | Strap Length (inches) | Fabrication | Price (USD) |
| Small with Chain | 8.5 x 4.5 x 2 | 26.5 - 45.5 | Dior Oblique Jacquard | $3,500 |
| TBC | Grained calfskin | $3,750 | ||
| Medium | 9 x 6.5 x 2.5 | 38 - 44 | Dior Oblique Jacquard | $3,900 |
| Grained calfskin | $4,100 |

Dior Médaillon Bucket Bag
Where the Flap Bag echoes earlier vintage designs, the Dior Médaillon Bucket Bag introduces contemporary styling with the historic motif. Defined by its softly structured bucket shape, the handbag is anchored by a gently curved seam at the base, lending subtle shape while preserving its relaxed silhouette. At the center of the design is the Médaillon detail, which functions as both an accent and strap adjuster allowing multiple styling options. The gold-tone oval hardware is echoed inside the bag, where the strap meets the body, finished with a heat-stamped ‘Dior’ signature that mirrors the exterior detailing. The relaxed silhouette is finished with an open-top construction, secured by a lobster clasp, while a hot-stamped ‘Dior’ signature adds a final touch.

The Dior Médaillon Bucket Bag is offered in two sizes — Small and Medium — shifting in proportion while maintaining the same relaxed ease of structure. The Small is scaled for everyday essentials such as a phone, wallet, sunglasses, and cosmetics, while the Medium has additional space for items like a tablet and a book. Across both sizes, the design is available in grained calfskin, offered in colorways including Black, Garance Red, and Trench, alongside the signature Dior Oblique jacquard available in the Medium. Each Médaillon Bucket Bag is finished with a detachable zipped Oblique pouch for smaller essentials. Prices start at $3,900.
