Celine Spring 2026 Stuns Paris By Bringing Back Beloved Bags with a Preppy Twist

The Michael Rider era of French brand Celine has officially begun, with the Spring 2026 combined men’s and women’s collections shown in Paris on July 6. LVMH tapped Rider from his post at Ralph Lauren to head the brand following the departure of Hedi Slimane, and the preppy influences are evident with the inclusion of polo shirts with stripes. At the same time, it is unmistakably French Celine, with the carriage logo, C-branded umbrellas and other swag, and heavy styling including the use of scarves and metallic jewels. And yes, the Triomphe logo used heavily in the Slimane era remains on bags and belts, though it is less prominent than before.

When it comes to bags, there are new-ish styles that look familiar – much like the Phantom from Celine’s Phoebe Philo-era (2008-2017). It’s likely no surprise that Rider would bring it back; he worked under Philo during that time.

A puffed out version of Philo’s trio, with a subtle Triomphe logo, made the runway cut, as did large and small simple classic totes.

If you miss the Philo-reimagined Box bag from 2011, Rider offers a similar style, like Slimane’s Teen Triomphe, but without the logo.

The logo-ed canvas returns in a flat sac, much like Louis Vuitton’s Sac Plat, along with what look like flat pochettes in assorted sizes.

A large, simple, structured raffia tote boldly says ‘CELINE’ without any Triomphe logo, unlike the summer bags currently on the shelf.

What are your thoughts on this Celine bag grouping?
