Chanel's New 31 Hits the Website

It’s here. The new 31 handbag – in tote and clutch styles – is now featured on chanel.com (read: Did You See the New Chanel 31 Bag?). With promotion on the web, they’re sure to hit stores sooner rather than later. Interestingly, like the Classic, 2.55, Gabrielle and Boy, the 31 is it’s own indexed category. Perhaps Chanel thinks the 31 is here to stay.

Prices for the shopping totes range from $3700 to $4800, and the exotic clutch for $6500.

As for what’s available, there aren’t 31 flavors (that’s a Baskin & Robbins ice cream reference) but there are 12 for your viewing pleasure.

Let’s start with the large shopping bags. Despite the same title, not only do materials vary but sizes do as well.

The majority of the 31 bags are 14.4″x3.1″x15.2 ” and are made of lambskin, crumpled calfskin with or without cotton fabric.

According to the website, this lambskin leather bag also is available in black, beige & green, blue & dark pink, beige & pink, beige & red, and orange & red, all with gold tone hardware.

The large 31 shopping tote comes in a number of other fabrications as well, some of which include actual fabric.

The blue tweed bag is the same dimension (though another tweed bag is not)

Also in the posted collection, although not identified as such, is a larger version – 17.2″x3.9″x18.7. These include the mixed fiber bags, the white tweed and the aged calfskin.

Then there is a wool and calfskin version of the large shopping bag and it is yet another size – 17.6″ x5.5″x14.8.” It is also available in black.

Last, but definitely not least (expensive), is the clutch with a bit of an exotic twist – python with patent calfskin. Weighing in with a $6500 price tag, it is the most expensive 31 (for now). It is also a large (albeit thin) clutch, at 14.4″x.8″x11,7″ – with greater height and width than a classic maxi.
