I am traveling to Paris this summer and hoping to buy my first luxury bag. My goal is to secure a Chanel Wallet on Chain with a top handle, a small rectangle flap bag, or other classic Chanel bag. How can I increase my chances of success despite the information that it is difficult to buy a popular bag in a Paris flagship store in the summer?
Dear First Time Chanel Purchaser:
This will certainly be an exciting trip to Paris. We have suggestions which may increase your chances of securing your first luxury handbag. Although Paris tends to be busy in the summer and securing a Chanel bag in August may be challenging, it is still possible.
- The good news is there are many, many Chanel boutiques in Paris. This means if you have the time you can try many different locations for the bag you are seeking.
- Ask friends if they have a Sales Associate that they will share with you to make an appointment. This will avoid spending time standing in line for one to become available. You can also tell this SA the items you are hoping to purchase so they may set them aside for your arrival.
- Plan to arrive at the boutiques when they open in the morning. Deliveries arrive in the mornings before the store opens. The stores do tend to get busier as the day progresses.
- Do not overlook the Chanel boutiques located in the department stores such as Le Bon Marche, Printemps, or Lafayette Galleries. Often these locations have bags that may be unavailable in other more popular locations.
- It is nice to start at the flagship Chanel on Rue Cambon (there are 2 on that block). Both locations on Rue Cambon provide the white box for purchases made at their locations whereas other locations provide the classic black boxes.
- Become familiar with the current Chanel collection which may be available. Ask about the prior collections as there may be some bags left over from the past drops.
