Dear PurseBop,

Can you please let me know your thoughts on a Birkin 30 in Bleu Nuit with gold hardware – is this an investment piece and a color that retains its value? Thank you in advance

Dear Bleu Nuit Birkin Lover,

The Hermès color Bleu Nuit is a great color because it sometimes looks blue and other times can look black. It is the darkest bleu Hermès produces. For this reason, it is one of the most versatile neutral colors for Hermès. Paired with either gold hardware or palladium hardware it will always be a classic.

The most requested neutral Hermès colors are Gold, Black, Craie or Nata, and Etoupe, Etain, or other gray color. However, Hermès bleu colors are extremely popular and there are many shades to choose. From the darkest bleu such as Bleu Nuit and Bleu Indigo to the lightest bleu like Bleu Brume and many shades in between.

All Hermès Birkins and Kellys have excellent resale value on the secondary market provided they are in excellent or new condition. Other factors that affect the resale value of the bag are the size, date stamp, color, leather, and the condition of the bag at the time of sale.

We recommend buying what you love and will use not what will be the best “investment.” That term is extremely subjective and can change based on the state of the economy, supply and demand at the time of sale, and popularity of the particular bag.

Good luck and happy shopping.
