Is There a Hermès 6-Month Rule Between Offers of Quota Bags in Paris?

I was just in Paris and my SA informed me that she could not offer me a quota bag because only 2 months had elapsed since I received my last quota bag this year. Did Hermès change its time limit between receiving quota bags?

Dear 6-Month Rule:

Historically, Hermès worldwide had a rule that customers could only be offered one quota bag per “semester.” This meant that a customer could receive a quota bag during the first 6 months of the year and a second quota bag during the second 6 months of the calendar year. Sometime after 2020 that rule changed and Hermès stated that there is no “6-month rule” and customers could receive 2 quota bags at any time, even close together or “back-to-back” but their limit would be reached and they could not be offered another quota bag until after the new year.

Since the pandemic Hermès has experienced an unprecedented increase in demand for their quota bags beyond the amount prior to 2020. All locations have struggled with offering their clients quota bags all year long.

Recently, we have received many reports from our community members, and have personally experienced a shift in all three Paris boutiques. It appears that in Paris there is presently (in 2025) a time limit being enforced between offers of quota bags. Whether it is a full 6 months or somewhere close to that time limit is the information we have received.

One SA in Paris shared that the philosophy is that they do not want customers to receive 2 quota bags close to each other or early in the year and then nothing for the rest of the year. It is another way to spread the inventory to more clients during the year. As always with Hermès, there are exceptions to the rule and some clients may receive special treatment.

If you travel to Paris more than once a year and hope to receive a quota bag on each visit, we recommend planning at least 6 months between visits. If you have a dedicated SA in Paris ask if the 6-month rule applies if you already received one quota bag this year.
