Dear PurseBop:

I would like to share my personal experience with Hermès after my SA left the company.

After 10 years of living in New York (home store: Madison), my family moved to Europe in 2021. There are two stores in the city where I moved. My instinct was to go to the bigger store when I first arrived. I met a great SA, purchased a few items but given the distance of the store from my home, visits were far and few in between. I made a wishlist on one shopping trip but didn’t pursue shopping regularly.

Fast forward to March 2022, my family arrived and because of our proximity to the second store, we decided to drop by. This store was way smaller with a lot of tourist traffic but we met a great SA who helped us with some shoes, scarves, ties and fragrances. She ordered a pair of oz mules for me which arrived a week later. When I picked it up, I had such a great time chatting with the SA that I brought up 2 bags I would like to have: A mini Evelyne and a Kelly.

She told me I couldn’t have two wishlists in the city, and she couldn’t cancel my other one because it was made in another store. I made the decision to pay my first SA a visit to cancel the wishlist and did a new wishlist with my new SA given our connection and the proximity of her branch to my home. I placed a few orders from her and she always came through for me. In April she offered me an Evelyne tpm. Everything was going well until June when she sent me a text that she was moving on to another job.

She told me to come for a visit before her last day and introduced me to her favorite colleague who took me under his wing. After my SA left, I stopped my regular visits to Hermes due to personal reasons but on my birthday I dropped by to purchase a nice gift for myself (scarf). I knew it would take time to build rapport with my new SA and I didn’t want to force it.

Come November of 2022, I received an anonymous phone call from the store manager to tell me they had a Kelly 25 for me. It was unexpected and I was ecstatic! I didn’t think my wish would come to pass because my original SA had left and I hadn’t built a huge profile with my new SA yet.

This offer was the start of many good things for me and my new SA. I bought several items from different categories from him, including a Constance slim, between January and now . Just two weeks ago I was offered a Birkin 25 Sellier and I am still screaming in excitement.

Many people like to ask me what the secret is to buying bags from the boutique. There’s no formula but I think enjoying the shopping process without obsessing over the quota bag makes the experience beautiful. A healthy dose of patience also helps. When I started my new journey here I had my eyes wide open. I knew nothing was guaranteed and I reminded myself that once the shopping caused me stress, I would stop. Shopping should be what it is: fun (whether at Hermès or any other store). Thankfully, my new store and my new SA has made it a wonderful journey.
