Dear PurseBop:
What am I doing wrong? I’m trying to sell 2 of my Chanel bags one is medium caramel 19 and the other 22 series lamb jumbo black/silver HW, listed for $5,995 and $4,995, then cut by $500 each and still nothing.
Dear Selling My Chanel Bags:
You may be doing nothing “wrong” at all — you may simply be colliding with the 2026 resale reality for Chanel. Many sellers are still anchored to peak-era pricing, while buyers have become far more selective, price-sensitive, and patient. Two years ago those bags might have moved quickly. Today, the market is slower and more rational.
A listing price is not the same as a sold price. Many Chanel bags sit unsold for months because sellers compare against active listings instead of completed sales.
- Chanel 19 Medium in caramel: desirable color, but the 19 line has cooled from its frenzy period. Buyers now want bargains.
- Chanel 22-series Jumbo black/silver lambskin: classic combo, but jumbo demand is softer than mini/medium sizes, and buyers are wary of lambskin wear.
Luxury buyers in 2026 often ask:
- “Should I buy resale, or just save for boutique?”
- “Will this bag hold value?”
- “Can I negotiate more?”
That means fewer impulse purchases.
Some resale platforms have lots of lookers, few serious buyers. Others have buyers but heavy fees. If you’re on one marketplace only, exposure may be limited.
Even great bags stall if listings lack:
- bright natural-light photos
- corners, interior, chain, hardware closeups
- receipt/card/date code details
- exact condition notes
- reason for sale
- fast response time
Luxury buyers are more cautious.
Your Chanel 19 in Caramel is beautiful, but fashion-forward or trendy bags often soften faster than classics. Caramel can be stunning, but buyers are picky about undertones and wear.
Your Chanel 22 Jumbo should still attract interest, but jumbo buyers often compare purchasing this bag against a caviar version, or a vintage single flap, or boutique alternatives. Lambskin often reduces the pool.
What To Do:
If you truly want liquidity, you may need to be closer to the actual market-clearing number, not your ideal number. Sometimes another $300–$700 drop changes everything.
Before dropping more:
- re-list with new headline
- use better photos
- mention full set / authenticity docs
- emphasize condition
- say “reasonable offers considered”
Late fall / holiday / bonus season can be stronger than selling in the spring. Timing is everything.
Good luck selling your Chanel bags.
