When Shopping in Paris Should I Use My Relative's Profile or Start My Own Profile at Hermès?

Dear PurseBop:

Hello! Trying to get my first quota bag at Hermès in Paris. My husband’s aunt has an extensive Hermès customer profile, but I’m not sure if she’s ever bought from outside the U.S. Would you recommend I make my Paris purchases through her account in hopes of potentially expediting being offered a quota bag or should I just start my own new profile in Europe? Also, if I buy something in one country in Europe, will it be visible to SAs in other European countries? Thank you!

Dear New Shopper in Paris:

It is never a good idea or appropriate to make purchases under someone else’s profile. In order to shop under another’s profile that person must be present and usually must pay with their credit card.

It is best to make purchases in Paris, and in your home store, under your own name and credit card and to create your own spend profile. Always make purchases of items you love and will use or give as gifts. It is best to do your shopping before you receive a leather appointment in Paris. Paris boutiques have now been reviewing a shopper’s spend profile before offering a quota or non-quota bag during a leather appointment.
Your profile is likely visible to other Hermès boutiques in France. Whether it helps you that you made purchases in Paris while shopping in other areas of France is not clear. It is usually up to the boutique manager.
Whether your spend profile is visible in other countries in Europe is not fully confirmed yet. Hermès is in the process of linking their system in Paris with all other countries but it is not clear if this has been completed at this time.

Good luck and happy shopping.
