Dior x RIMOWA: The Collab We've All Been Waiting For Is Here

Dior (no introduction necessary) has partnered with RIMOWA (the classic German luxury luggage brand) to bring us some of the most-anticipated new releases of the year. Yesterday, Dior and RIMOWA opened up a pop-up in Miami’s Design District, a bona fide luxury shopping destination.

The official release of the collection in boutiques worldwide and online is January 15, so this is basically and über-special sneak peak. The pop-up is the first opportunity in the U.S. to shop the collection and will stay open from now through January 2.

The Store

The pop-up is located at 151 NE 41st Street in Miami’s Design district, and the boutique itself does not disappoint.

It’s essentially an art installation: in the middle of the space sits a custom blue and white helicopter, while the room itself is painted to evoke a cloudscape. (Apparently a few clients have even asked about purchasing the helicopter…) The clouds “runway” even extends outside, leading visitors into the dreamy interior.

The Collection

The collection, which first debuted on the Dior Men’s Summer 2020 Runway, puts a twist on RIMOWA’s classic luggage designs. (And it’s no surprise these two brands collaborated—they’re both under the LVMH umbrella!)

Dior describes the collection as having an “all-new combination using a process of anodizing to insert pigments with vibrant and iridescent shades into the aluminum for a reflective effect.” The result is luminous.

Dior x RIMOWA ranges from adorable clutches in the style of aluminum suitcases to carry-on and checked luggage. One highlight is the Champagne Case, with its exotic crocodile leather handle and an interior that holds Dior champagne flutes. Overall, the collection combines RIMOWA’s signature aluminum finish with Dior’s classic traits, such as the Oblique motif. The results, in our opinion, are stunning. See for yourselves:
