We all love a runway moment, but what are fashion lovers actually pulling the trigger on? Once overshadowed by the appeal of buying new, luxury resale has shed its old stigma to become a destination in its own right, offering access to coveted designs, hard-to-find treasures, and investment-worthy classics.

FASHIONPHILE just dropped its 2026 Ultra-Luxury Resale Report offers a closer look at what’s driving the shift, and the receipts don’t lie. From the Louis Vuitton Speedy refusing to give up its crown to Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel debut sending secondary prices into the stratosphere, this year’s statistics proves one thing: pre-loved is no longer a guilty pleasure – it’s the ultimate flex. Here’s a look inside the data, the demand, and the designs that defined the year in resale.

The Classics Still Reign
Talk about staying power. For the second year running, the Louis Vuitton Speedy topped FASHIONPHILE’s list of most-shopped handbags, with its average resale value increasing 16.2% year over year. The Chanel Classic Flap held firm in second place, while the Prada Re-Edition 2005 Shoulder Bag made the biggest move among the top three, climbing from eighth place to third.

Beyond the top three, 2026 revealed a lineup defined by daily wearability and lasting appeal. The Goyard Saint Louis made a quiet move into seventh position, bumping last year’s Celine Ava out of the top ten.
The remainder of the list highlighted a consistent demand for time-tested classics: the Saint Laurent Lou Camera Bag, Gucci Dionysus, Hermès Evelyne, Bottega Veneta Jodie, Lady Dior, and Fendi Baguette.

The Blazy Effect: Fashion’s New Chanel Obsession
Call it the double-double: Double Cs and double-digit premiums. Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel debut didn’t just make waves on the runway. It sent demand into overdrive, with select designs commanding more than their original retail prices on the resale market.

According to FASHIONPHILE, Blazy’s new take on the Maxi Flap, also known as the Souplissimo, fetched 13% above the retail price, while the Urban Essential Shopping Bag commanded an even higher 15% premium. The reissued Executive Tote sold for 13% above retail on FASHIONPHILE, and interest in the original 2005 design rose as well. The Preppy Coco rounded out the quartet, with FASHIONPHILE paying sellers 1% above retail.
The Texture Trend
And while some bags are making headlines for their resale premiums, others are turning heads for their texture. Searches for “pony hair” surged 259% year over year, according to FASHIONPHILE, with the internet-famous cheetah-print Mini Chanel 25 helping fuel the frenzy. A boutique instant sellout, the coveted style is far from the only pony-hair piece on shoppers’ wish lists, with the tactile fabrication proving a draw across Chanel’s handbag lineup.

Old Bags, New Obsessions
Forget out with the old. In 2026, fashion’s past became the present’s hottest shopping list, with searches for vintage pieces increasing 112% year over year. From early noughties icons making a comeback to the cult favorites of 2016 finding a new audience, shoppers were looking back to move their wardrobes forward.

Some classics never really leave the conversation. The Fendi Baguette proved it, with searches rising 157% year over year alongside a 9.86% increase in average selling price. The Fendi Spy Bag enjoyed an even more dramatic revival, as its average resale value doubled and then some – with demand climbing 104.39%. Meanwhile, the Saint Laurent Mombasa returned to the spotlight with its Spring-Summer 2026 revival of Tom Ford’s original 2001 design, sending average selling prices soaring 291%, and sales up three-fold. Other archival favorites were back on the radar, too. Searches for the Bottega Veneta Veneta Hobo jumped 146% following its re-release, while interest in the discontinued Chanel Cambon increased 148%. Whether revived by the runway or rediscovered by a new generation, these designs prove that a little history can go a long way.

Y2K nostalgia brought its own dose of drama. Searches for monogram denim surged 1,026% year over year, while interest in the Chloé Paddington climbed 610%. Galliano-era Dior and Louis Vuitton Multicolore also gained traction, with searches increasing 123% and 109%, respectively. Logo mania, statement hardware and unapologetically maximalist accessories were back in the spotlight.
And the nostalgia didn’t stop in the early noughties. FASHIONPHILE also saw renewed interest in bags associated with 2016, including the Celine Luggage, up 245%, the Loewe Puzzle, up 300%, and the Gucci Dionysus, up 400%. Apparently, a decade is all it takes for a former ‘it bag’ to feel like a fresh obsession.

The Birkin Meets the Baguette
Some bags inspire a passing crush. Others become a full-blown pursuit. In 2026, the Hermès Birkin and Fendi Baguette tied as FASHIONPHILE’s most-hunted handbags, with searches for both styles increasing 215% year-over-year.
The pairing makes for an interesting contrast: one is a symbol of ultra-luxury exclusivity, the other a Y2K icon with a pop-culture legacy. Yet both continue to capture shoppers’ imaginations. Different in design and heritage, these bags share one thing: lasting demand that goes beyond seasonal trends.

The wider resale market also rewarded established favorites, with the average resale values of the Hermès Birkin, Louis Vuitton Speedy and Chanel Classic Flap climbing year over year.

The Man Bag Goes Mainstream
Move over, briefcase. Men’s bags are having a moment, with searches rising 166% year over year as the category gains ground on the streets and in celebrity wardrobes.

The Hermès Haut à Courroies caught fresh attention after footballer Erling Haaland was spotted carrying the storied style. Meanwhile, Louis Vuitton scored big during the FIFA World Cup season, with searches for the Speedy P9 and Speedy Bandoulière climbing 320% and 277%, respectively.
Whether carried as a practical everyday companion or a statement-making accessory, the man bag is central to the luxury conversation.

Beyond the Bag: Shoes and Accessories Have Their Moment
The handbag may be the star of the luxury wardrobe, but 2026 proved there was plenty of room for other accessories to take the spotlight. From pared-back flats to statement sandals, familiar footwear found fresh footing.
Ballet flats made a major comeback, with searches soaring 751% year-over-year, while thong sandals enjoyed a resurgence of their own, with interest climbing 487%. Meanwhile, The Devil Wears Prada 2 put Valentino’s Rockstuds back in the spotlight, not that they were fully gone, with searches for the style up 1.5 times.

But which shoes came out on top? FASHIONPHILE’s most-shopped rankings put the Hermès Oran sandals in first place, ahead of the Gucci Ace sneakers at number two and Louis Vuitton Star Trail ankle boots in third.

Beyond footwear, silk scarves also had a moment, as searches jumped 369% year over year. Tied around the neck, styled as a top or fashioned into a handbag accent, the versatile accessory found new ways to make a statement. Searches for “bandeau,” “Hermès scarf” and “Twilly” also rose, showing that shoppers were embracing the scarf in all its forms.
The Takeaway: Luxury That Lasts
From runway newcomers to vintage icons, FASHIONPHILE’s 2026 report reveals a resale market shaped by both nostalgia and newness. Some shoppers are chasing the next big thing, while others are rediscovering the bags they once loved, proving that a design’s story doesn’t end when it leaves the boutique.
And with demand spanning investment-worthy classics, archival treasures and accessories beyond the handbag, one thing is clear: in luxury resale, yesterday’s obsession can quickly become tomorrow’s must-have. Ready to find your next fashion fixation? Your next luxury treasure could be waiting on FASHIONPHILE.
