There’s a viral TikTok sensation that I simply could not ignore. Till now, I could only be an admirer from afar, that is until my recent weekend trip to NYC. Let me digress for just a moment, it is July – my birthday and our anniversary month 💍. It’s fair for you to assume that this trip to the big apple had something to do with both.
I am going to save the trip details for my birthday article as this one is solely focused on a tiny special addition with a big personality. And in case you’re wondering, of course we are talking about Hermès here.
Let’s dive into it – Remember last year, right around this time summer 2024 brought the Paris Olympics and, at the same time, Hermès Doré was surfacing like an olympic swimmer. In my mind, the two are linked because of this:
My obsession is not a secret, I fell hard starting with the Doré Constance. A slew of matching shoes (4 to be exact – Chypre, Loafer, Mary Jane, heeled Jane…or is there more?). Even a few accessories. Then as fate would have it, the highly coveted Doré mini Kelly 20 made its way to me for Diwali. There couldn’t be a more appropriate color and finish to commemorate this gilden holiday.

The Doré Duo.
Metallic hues call to me, evidenced by my many pieces in Doré which I treasure and adore… But all that glitters is not gold. Seasoned Hermès color fans know that the silver series Gris Argenté in Chamkila chèvre is now trickling into boutiques. So when my Hermès SA said, “Monika you need this: I said “yessssssssss ma’am! And girl – I need a matching belt…”
Stay with me, I’ll explain exactly why, and it’s not just to cinch my blue jeans.
Here’s the Constance slim in metallic Gris Argenté (silver) and my first C slim to boot! The finish is absolutely sublime. It’s still subtle like Doré. In some lights it looks gray but if the light picks up the sheen, it’s game over!
The intended and traditional way to wear a Constance slim is belted at the waist.
BUT wait – that’s not all…

Giving the Constance slim a try :)
The DIY Cargo Birkin or Kelly
What I am about to show you is this new DIY Cargo Birkin trend that has Hermès enthusiasts excited. A Cargo B is a canvas (25cm or 35cm) Birkin with an exterior pocket, trimmed in leather. Not an easy one to get ones hands on – so when necessity is the mother of invention... creativity rears its head, and rather magnificently in this case.
Ingredients:
- Constance slim
- Kelly belt 18
- Birkin or Kelly – size up to you.
Directions:
- Weave the Kelly belt through the back of the slim.
- Drape belt around the body of the bag (just as you would to wear on your waist),
- Adjust the belt size to fit comfortably around the bag. Careful to not tighten and disrupt the natural curves of the bag, LOL.

My new Kelly 18 belt in black epsom and PHW.
And that’s it – you have a Cargo Birkin or Kelly with a lot of pizzazz. Now it’s up to you if you want to mix hardware, leather colors, or be totally monochromatic. Be as bold or as subtle as your heart desires. A playful use of this accessory that also makes the Constance slim multifunctional, lol.
Here are a few photos that I put together, while experimenting. I thought it would be exciting to jump on this recent trend as a way to showcase the new Gris Argenté color and finish, and reveal my first Constance slim.
First up, a DIY Shoulder Cargo Birkin in Gold Evercolor, next my Butler Kelly 25, and just for fun -we even turned the Doré Mini Kelly into a Cargo carrier.
Let’s hope the Argenté itch is satisfied and done now (unlikely).
How about you? Do you prefer the Dorè or Gris Argenté?
