Two knobbly walnuts might seem an unlikely invitation to a Dior fashion show. Yet for Summer 2027, Jonathan Anderson looked to the centuries-old Chinese tradition of rolling wénwán walnuts by hand, where time and touch gradually transform their surfaces. “When I came across wénwán walnuts, I was reminded of how we can find knowledge and preciousness in nature,” Anderson shared. Their tactile quality and organic forms offered a fitting introduction to a collection centered on lightness, movement, and the interplay of texture and transparency.

That idea carried through to the setting at the Jardin des Tuileries, where a stark white runway stretched across the fountain, with a small group of lush trees gathered at its center and clouds of steam rising from the water. Cascading florals, mini skirts, and Bar jackets moved down the runway alongside sheer fabrications, delicate trims, and silhouettes that shifted between transparency and opacity. Pastel yellows and soft orchid shades appeared alongside black and gray, an unexpectedly dark palette for a Summer collection.

And then there were the bags. Beyond the new fabrications and colorways of the Promenade Shopping Bag, Toujours Hobo, Cigale, and Petit Dîner Bags, Jonathan Anderson introduced a wave of new silhouettes, while continuing to rework some of Dior’s most recognizable designs through hardware and reworked proportions.

Let’s take a closer look at the handbag highlights from Dior’s Summer 2027 collection. . .

Biker Shoulder Bag

A new shoulder bag brings a distinctly biker-inspired attitude to Dior’s accessories lineup. Relaxed and oversized, its slouchy proportions give it an almost hobo-like shape, while soft Cannage lambskin is punctuated by biker-style zip detailing throughout. A secured zip-top fastening is joined by a curved flap front pocket at the front, a subtle nod to the house’s iconic Saddle Bag.

The D I O R charms act as zip pulls, and capture Anderson’s “Dior deconstructed approach” which he described to Loïc Prigent ahead of the show. Finished with an adjustable leather shoulder strap, the new Shoulder Bag was presented in black and rich burgundy.

Fishnet Fringe Bag

Fringe continues to make its way through Dior, carrying over from the cascading treatments seen in the Fall-Winter 2026-2027 Haute Couture collection. Here, the idea takes a more casual turn in a fishnet-style tote, with printed fabric cascading across the body to create a fluid, fringe-like effect. A single leather-interwoven chain shoulder strap completes the design, which appeared in both monochromatic Dior printed versions and colorful floral prints.

Medallion Shoulder Bag

Expanding the Dior Medallion line, the new Shoulder Bag takes the house’s signature motif in a sleek, East-West direction. Crafted in smooth leather with Cannage stitch detailing, its elongated silhouette is subtly cinched through the center, and sealed with a zipper. A subtle Medallion emblem sits at each end of the cylindrical silhouette while a single chain shoulder strap allows it to be worn on the shoulder or carried by hand.

CD Toujours

The new CD Toujours brings a fresh take to the familiar silhouette, combining the relaxed softness of the Toujours with a new hardware treatment. Crafted from ostrich skin, the tote is heat-stamped with Dior across the bottom front and punctuated by statement gold-tone CD hardware in place of traditional eyelets, with leather-interwoven chain handles threaded through each side.

Swan Minaudière

Dior’s menagerie has a new arrival, and this one is ready to take flight. The Swan Minaudière was previewed on Jonathan Anderson’s Instagram before making its runway debut. Its white acrylic body is finished with textured silver-tone metalwork forming the wings, while a light gold beak completes the bird. A removable chain strap allows the Swan to be perched on the shoulder, while a hinge mechanism opens the body to reveal the interior.
