Leave it to Hermès to make the most literal handbag name feel like a statement. Named Le Petit Sac — quite simply, “the little bag” — the latest addition to the House’s handbag lineup is exactly what it claims to be.

First seen on the Fall-Winter 2025 runway, Le Petit Sac didn’t arrive with drama. It just appeared — tucked neatly into the collection. It’s the kind of bag you might miss if you weren’t looking for it.

The Le Petit Sac is a slim pochette-style shoulder bag with a softly curved, elongated silhouette — an Hermès-coded design stripped to its most minimal form. Designed as a “reversible bag,” there is no designated front or back; it can be worn either way. Yet, it is unmistakably Hermès, H-shaped D’rings anchor the shoulder strap to the bag’s body, while a secure zip-top fastening, finished with a leather pull tab, keeps the profile clean and uninterrupted.

Neat and slim in profile Le Petit Sac is petite, measuring 7.9 inches in length, 4.5 inches in height and just 0.8 inches in width. Inside, the layout is equally minimal. A main compartment is sized to fit a mobile phone, complemented by a slim interior pocket for cards.

Recalling classic noughties shoulder bag silhouettes, Le Petit Sac sits neatly against the body with a flat profile, but can also be carried by hand.

The Le Petit Sac is currently offered in two distinct leather options. In Chèvre Mysore, it arrives in softer, lighter shades including New Bleu Jean, Nata and Rose Sakura. While in heritage Box calfskin, the palette shifts to a more classic Hermès register — Noir and Rouge H — with a sharper, more polished finish.

Pricing starts at $6,350 for Le Petit Sac in Chèvre Mysore and increases to $8,850 for Box calfskin. Positioned within a similar price range to the Hermès To Go SLG collection, the Le Petit Sac offers a more pared-down and contemporary aesthetic.

So is the Le Petit Sac simply “the little bag” — or Hermès’ most quietly distilled idea of one yet?
