I’ve just been lucky enough to buy a beautiful mini Evelyn. The official name is the Hermès Evelyn 16 Amazone. Does anyone know what the “Amazone” means?

The Hermès mini Evelyne 16 Amazone TPM bag has a very distinct meaning in french. The term “Amazone” is the name for female horse riders that ride side saddle. The Evelyne bag was designed to hold grooming tools used on horses. The perforated H on one side was designed to allow air to flow through the bag to dry the tools. Due to Hermès’ equestrian roots, many of its bags were designed for use with horses. The Evelyne bags were introduced into the fashion line in the mid 2000’s.
