HI,
I’m going to Paris and I would love to experience shopping there. I’m planning to go to Chanel, Hermes, Dior and Louis Vuitton.
Can you tell me which area these boutiques are and do I need to prepare or make an appointment prior to.
I am definitely going to buy Chanel 19 lambskin quilted or something which attracts me.
I know we have global prices but with Vat will I still save money?
Thank you for your help
Dear Shopper in Paris:

How exciting to be traveling to Paris soon. It is always a good time to go to Paris.

The luxury boutiques are generally located in a few different areas. Depending where your hotel is located you may find one or more areas more convenient than other areas.

Rue du Faubourg Saint Honore has all the luxury boutiques within a 3-4 block radius. The mothership Hermès FSH, 3 Chanel boutiques, Dior and Louis Vuitton are all walking distance in this area. This is one of the best areas to shop but there are others.

Ave Montaigne has the largest Dior store and the accompanying Dior Galerie is a must to visit if your time permits. There are also Louis Vuitton and Chanel boutiques nearby. Be sure to visit the Champs de Elysées for more luxury store locations.

There are two more Hermès boutiques. One Hermès at 17 Rue de Sèvres and the third Hermès George V at 42 Av. George V.
No appointment is required to shop at any of the Hermès boutiques, however, a leather appointment is required if you hope to purchase a bag from Hermès. There is an online lottery system you can apply online each morning for an appointment the following day. It is very difficult to get an appointment but it does happen and you should plan to apply every day you will be in Paris.

It is always a good idea to make an appointment if you are able, otherwise we recommend visiting the boutiques earlier in the day for the best service and availability.
Most prices are less in Paris than in the U.S. Chanel prices are close to the same as in the U.S. but with VAT refunds and not having to pay the U.S. sales tax there may be a small savings depending how much customs tax you pay when returning to the U.S. Be sure to declare all your purchases with customs upon returning to the U.S.
Please read all the articles linked below which will answer all your questions in detail. Our site has a wealth of information to help you prepare for your shopping trip to Paris.

Have a great time in Paris and happy shopping.
