What happens when two icons come together?

That, exactly is what Fendi and Tiffany set out to do with the collaboration that was announced in September last year. In 2023, we get to finally experience the magic in the form of the Tiffany × Fendi Baguette bag. From the most recognised bag shape to the iconic blue eternally associated with only Tiffany & Co. – this bag is a fashionista’s dream! And I’m so excited that I was able to snag this bag and share its features with you.

Packaging

Released in the medium size, with the option of leather or satin, the bag is TDF. Pictures can’t do the Tiffany blue hue justice. The bag comes in a special blue box with Fendi on the front and a luxurious fabric handle on the top.

Upon opening the box, Tiffany & Co is printed on the upper flap to reveal the precious beauty inside. The dustbag didn’t disappoint either as one side said “Fendi Roma” on it and the other side “ Tiffany & Co.” What a pleasure this was to unbox!

Size, Price and Availability

Now let’s get into the bag shall we? With dimensions at 15cm x 6cm x 27cm, this is considered to be the medium size in Fendi’s baguette family. It has 2 strap options, a top handle and a non-adjustable strap that has a 90cm drop. As one of the most anticipated collaborations of the year, the price is a bit higher than a typical baguette, coming in at $5,500. Though available online during launch day on both the Tiffany and Fendi websites, unsurprisingly it sold out faster than you can say collab. In-store availability was on a pre-order basis, but if you are patient and persistent there might be still hope to get your hands on one.

First Impressions

Seeing this collaboration, I knew I wanted the satin version. The leather version is more carefree and is gorgeous as well, but the satin gives it the classic, dressy feel I was going for. Satin silk fabric is a perfect canvas for the iconic hue and the hardware, complimented by Tiffany sterling silver hardware. The FF clasp is further decorated with two Tiffany blue enameled Ts which are seamlessly integrated into the design.

This magnetic clasp is strong and easy to close, keeping your essentials safely inside the bag. The outside of this baguette is made of satin silk while the inside has a flat leather pocket (the leather is lined with satin silk) with “Fendi The Tiffany Baguette” written on a small plaque made out of sterling silver.

Fashionably Practical

Two D-rings attach to each of the sides, giving you the option to attach either top handle or longer strap.The latter allows a more casual shoulder carry or crossbody. However, as a crossbody strap, it is a bit shorter than you might be used to (coming from someone who is 5’5″.)

Nevertheless it’s still a comfortable fit; it just might not suit everyone. You can also leave the straps home and carry it as a clutch for an evening out.

Daily Use and Care

With the satin fabrication, I know I need to treat the bag gently and I won’t be using it as an everyday bag. The leather version is better for daily use as it wont show wear as easily, however, you still must be careful of color transfer. Jeans or dark colored clothing and this bag don’t mix well together. Granted I have the satin version, this won’t be an everyday bag.

Adding a bag organizer, especially for the satin version, would extend the bag’s longevity. It also would help maintain the bag’s shape. I personally would not fill this bag to its maximum capacity, though I’d be less concerned about this on the leather version. A compact wallet, lip gloss, keys, coin purse and headphones fit well. And yes, it fits our phones! Whether you are an iPhone owner or a fold/flip owner, the baguette is mobile phone friendly. Going for cardholders such as the Calvi or a Chanel card holder will give you more space for other items. I’d also venture to say that a lip gloss, small perfumes should be placed in a smaller cosmetic bag, then you won’t need to fumble around to find it, or risk any staining on the inside of the bag.

Final Thoughts

If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind collaboration that speaks through a generation of fashion, then this is a bag for you. It’s a bag you take to a special occasion or to make an occasion special – two beloved brands showcasing their iconic styles in a harmonious marriage – that’s the Tiffany x Fendi Baguette- and you simply can’t go wrong.
