Celine Unveils the New Soft Triomphe Wedge Bag

A new era of Celine Triomphe Bag is taking shape – a wedge shape that is. The new Soft Triomphe Wedge trades the boxier proportions associated with the House’s earlier designs for a softer, slouchier silhouette in supple lambskin. Under Michael Rider, the signature double-C clasp stays put, but the silhouette is going in a decidedly different direction.

The Triomphe emblem has a history of its own. Inspired by the chain surrounding the Arc de Triomphe, it was created by House founder Céline Vipiana in 1973, and revived by Hedi Slimane in 2018. Slimane made the Triomphe emblem a centerpiece of Celine designs. Current Creative Director Michael Rider has followed suit, first in his debut debut Spring/Summer 2026 collection, where doubled up the hardware on the Flair Bag and scaled it down across the Frame Bag line. The Soft Triomphe Wedge is his latest take, retaining the instantly recognizable clasp while pairing it with a softer, more relaxed silhouette.

Crafted in supple shiny lambskin, the Soft Triomphe Wedge takes its name from its distinctive side profile, which forms a triangular shape – broad at the base and tapering to a point at the top. Drawstrings threaded through eyelets on either side cinch the body inward, accentuating its wedge-like silhouette, while the curved front flap softens the overall shape. The familiar Triomphe magnetic closure sits at the center in gold-tone hardware. Inside, you’ll find a main zipped compartment and a flat pocket, while an outer zipped pocket keeps essentials close to hand.

Offered in two sizes, the Little Wedge measures 9.8 x 6.7 x 4.7 inches, making it a compact option for everyday essentials. Its larger sibling, the Medium Soft Triomphe Wedge, measures 13 x 8.3 x 11 inches, offering a more substantial travel-friendly silhouette. Both feature removable, adjustable straps, allowing for versatile carry. The Little Wedge can be worn on the shoulder or crossbody, with a strap drop ranging from 15.75 to 21.65 inches, while the Medium works best as a shoulder bag with a strap drop of 11.42 to 17.32 inches.

The Soft Triomphe Little Wedge is available in five colorways: Black, Syrah, Plum, Red Velvet, and Light Cuir, while the size Medium is currently offered in Black and Soft Tan.

With the Soft Triomphe Wedge, Michael Rider is finding new ways to work with a familiar Celine signature. The emblem remains front and center, but the softer construction and curved proportions give it a different personality from the structured original.
