Hello jzluxe. Travel can be a tricky space & everyone has different theories and suggestions but I will share mine. Firstly I travel with regular branded good quality luggage such as my current favorite, tumi luggage. I no longer use designer suitcases as my carry on/or check in, as I personally feel it attracts too much attention. Having said this, it depends on the purpose of the trip and whether I am alone or not. Family vacations I bend all rules but when alone I use a tumi carry-on, and place all valuables in it. I never check in handbags etc. My carry on is a hard case tumi and it goes through X ray closed. Inside is all my precious cargo. I have frequently shared how I pack my bags for travel on IG and will post a few pictures here too.
As for in flight long travel, Always use a bag that zips across or closes especially if you are going to be sleeping thru portions of the flight. Anotherwards an open B may not be a good idea. I recently bought a long champs tote and although far from glamorous serves its purpose of discreetly containing all your treasures.
Hope this helps. I do LOVE to take lovely bags with me, and feel if I can’t use them in the best of travel times then they are not necessary. Our lifestyle involves many great trips to celebrate great moments with friends & I want my favorites with me, within reason. The trick is to learn to effectively and safely stack one within the other. I’ll share one post here of packing a BOY bag… many more pics on the site.

Sorry to hear that you’ve had travel troubles! I always put my bags in their dustbags and then cushion them with t-shirts for the extra protection, after that I place them within another, more sturdy bag. That counts as my first carry-on. Then I will either use a Louis Vuitton Keepall or Pegasse – depending on where I am traveling – to bring my larger valuables/items I am not willing to lose. That counts as my second carry-on piece.
Here are some other tips that have helped me avoid losing any items.
1. I always let my partner go through security before me, so he can collect my bags as 9/10 times I set the alarm off and TSA just love to pat me down. This prevents my bags from sitting unattended.
2. Always fly first class. Better everything lol
3. Put your bag under the seat in front of you if possible. Less chance of someone stealing it.

Hi, hon?… Use normal bags like Tumi… And wrap your bags with plastic… Before checking in… It’s easier that way?

Hi Everyone- very excited about #boptalk!! My name is Marie (@luxe_lover on IG). Like all of you lovely ladies (and gents) I am a handbag enthusiast and lover! My favourite fashion houses would have to be Hermes, Chanel and LV, however, I have an appreciation for most handbags and Fashion Houses! I am a busy mum from Australia. I have an 18 month old son and am 5 months pregnant with a little girl ☺️? – i adore my husband and family! My favourite thing is just chilling with my boys! ? Besides expensive handbags (and shoes), coffee is my poison of choice! I can’t wait to get to know you all more on this wonderful new forum! ?
- luxe_lover replied 11 years ago
I love this thread! It’s an obsession that only handbag enthusiasts could appreciate!! I spent years chasing a Birkin- it proved virtually impossible to get one from the Boutique in my city, despite trying all the tricks. In the end I went with a reputable reseller who was able to get me exactly what I wanted (with patience!). She is my only B (for now!) and I still find myself in awe of this bag!! I love how it makes me feel when I carry it! ?☺️ I am still trying to get my next B fresh from the Boutique! I haven’t given up hope yet!
- luxe_lover replied 11 years ago
Wonderful topic! I enjoyed reading everyone’s thoughts on this too! I think I still consider Hermes to be the premier brand, simply because in Australia Chanel is SO MUCH more easily accessible. It is still very difficult to get a Birkin or Kelly (amongst other H bags). Our luxury resale market is also very limited compared to other parts of the world, hence we still swoon when we see a Birkin or K in the flesh! I also think that what both Fashion Houses offer is so different that it is hard to compare! I don’t know if i could ever say that a Birkin is substitutable for a Chanel piece or vice versa! That’s my two cents :-)
- luxe_lover replied 11 years ago
It is always so interesting hearing people’s points of views on this. I love the Birkin’s casual look and the easy access to it’s contents, but the elegance and class of the Kelly combined with the functionality of the strap when you have a child make it a winner for me. The simple solution is to get both of course!
- Stylish Sheba replied 11 years ago
I’m attracted to the look of the Kelly more right now for my personal style…I could see myself shifting into a Birkin girl a few years down the line

I love the new collection babe! This is a stunner and I love the leather!
- jzluxe replied 11 years ago
I absolutely love that givenchy bag! the color combo is beautiful…Welcome to BopTalk :) Can’t wait to see your other posts!
- Morgan replied 11 years ago
I love both. Very much. So hard to choose. I think both brands have to completely different style (exclude Hermes Constance), they’re both just to beautiful & very classic.
- jzluxe replied 11 years ago
Well… It all started when I found out they made H belts. My Armenian name starts with an H so I guess you can say my friends who don’t know much about H think I just really love my initials. (& I do… Because of H)
But my very first item was an enamel bracelet.

Hi everyone! Thank you for welcoming me in your talk! I am WonderlustStyle, so lets just say i like traveling a whole lot. :) Other than that i love reading, and books in general. And of course i love beautiful handbags!!. I don’t have one brand in particular I am very open to all the beauty that is out there. Probably because of my “wander-lustiness” i also love vintage LV trunks, and all the memories the must have kept inside.

My story of my first Birkin is probably a little different to everybody elses. One day I decided I wanted one, so I went into my local store with no knowledge of the brand and no previous buying history and simply asked for one. Imagine my surprise when they rang me the very next day and said they had one for me. I went in to have a look at this handbag that was supposedly the most difficult to get in the world. It was 40 centimetres and light blue/green in color (I’m still unsure as to which color it actually was). I thought it looked all wrong. I’d never seen one in real life before and as it was closed and locked, it didn’t look like any of the bags I’d seen celebrities carrying in magazines as they always have theirs open. I also thought it looked big enough to be a suitcase. So I politely said no thanks, went home and had a sleepless night and went back into buy it the next day, and of course, it was gone. Over the next three months, my husband and I tried everything we could think of to try and get one. We rang my brother in laws girlfriend who works for Vogue in Dubai, we asked my husbands casino host, we asked a friend who is always buying gifts for his harem of girlfriends. No luck anywhere. Finally we rang Hermes in Paris who said something could be arranged… were we willing to fly to Paris? Just when total frustration was setting in, our local store rang back and said they had a 35 centimetre Birkin Bleu de Galice in Togo. I rushed to the store mid gym session looking like a hot mess and couldn’t hand over my credit card fast enough. Today I still think she is a little too big for me, and not my preferred leather, but I will always remember the thrill of the chase in getting her home to me!
