Some Hermès signatures are born in the saddle, others set sail. Inspired by the anchors found on ships in the 1930s, Hermès’ iconic Chaîne d’Ancre motif has travelled well beyond its maritime beginnings, becoming one of the Maison’s most enduring signatures.
Debuting for Spring-Summer 2025, the Poche Cliquetis and Sac Cliquetis put the Chaîne d’Ancre front and center. Both feature substantial hardware that moves and clinks as the bags are carried, a detail echoed in the name, with cliquetis translating from French as “clinking.” While the In-the-Loop incorporates the motif through its leatherwork and the Ancrage takes a more understated approach with its hardware, the Cliquetis designs make the chain itself the main event.

The Poche takes the form of a lightweight, messenger-style pouch, while the Sac adapts the idea into a structured box bag. Having recently resurfaced on the Fall-Winter 2026 Chapter Two runway in Los Angeles, the Sac Cliquetis is now making its way into the hands of Hermès shoppers.
The Poche Cliquetis
The Poche Cliquetis pairs minimalist design with jewelry-like detailing. Crafted in supple Swift calfskin, the vertical rectangular pouch features an asymmetric, adjustable Chaîne d’Ancre chain strap inspired by the Farandole necklace, with a removable leather detail. The chain attaches via eyelets and T-bar fastenings and adjusts from approximately 22 to 41 inches, allowing the pouch to be worn over the shoulder or across the body. Measuring 8.9 × 10 × 1 inches, the unlined design features a main compartment with two interior slip pockets.

Lightweight and streamlined, the Poche Cliquetis offers an easy, versatile way to carry everyday essentials, without the structure of a traditional handbag. With little to distract from the hardware, its construction puts the Chaîne d’Ancre firmly in focus.
Currently offered in a refined palette of neutrals, including Étoupe, Noir, Poussière, Gold, and Vert Mangrove, each paired with palladium hardware. The Poche Cliquetis retails for $8,100, reflecting the intricate jewelry-like hardware that defines the design.

The Sac Cliquetis
The Sac Cliquetis brings the Chaîne d’Ancre to a structured box-shaped silhouette. Clean lines and softly rounded edges balance the statement strap, which combines smooth leather with substantial Chaîne d’Ancre links.

The maxi Chaîne d’Ancre strap, features two oversized chain-shaped links that follow the curve of the flap, serving as attachment points and integrating the motif into the bag’s construction. Measuring 28.3 inches, the strap sits neatly over the shoulder and can also be carried by hand. While the substantial hardware adds considerable weight to the design, the Sac Cliquetis balances practicality with a polished design that works just as well by day as it does by night.
Measuring 7.9 × 5.5 × 2 inches, the Box calfskin design features a full flap secured by an invisible closure, while a slip pocket on the back adds a practical finishing touch. Lined in Chèvre Chagrin, the roomy main compartment includes an interior slip pocket.

To date, the Sac Cliquetis has so far been seen in Noir with palladium hardware, while an earlier preview at the Paris Re-See offered a glimpse of the design in Rouge H. Currently available on the Hermès online boutique, where it retails for $15,200.
