Earlier this month, Hermes showcased its amazing new Spring/Summer 2017 collection at the La Garde Republicaine in Paris. The runway was filled with many chic, luxurious trench coats, high-waisted trousers, and collared, knee-length dresses. Among the elegant looks were a few, new bags that immediately caught our eyes.
In the latest SS17 collection, Hermes released the “Cinetic d’Hermès bag“.

The Cinetic is a structured, boxy bag with a top handle and chain strap. Judging from the runway, it looks like it will be available in plain leather and crocodile leather. Aside from the striking shape, the metal closure in the center is another standout aspect, and it slightly resembles an asymmetrical ‘H’.

Mind you, it’s a big deal when Hermes releases a new bag style. More importantly, this bag just looks really different from Hermes’ usually lineup. The minimalistic lines and edgy vibe of the hardware is more reminiscent of Givenchy or Saint Laurent. Perhaps, this is Hermes’ attempt to reach out to a different audience? The fashion house has its iconic, “it” bags like the Birkin, Kelly, and Constance. However, given consumer allegiance to these styles, it’ll be interesting to see if this new bag can make a splash (or if this new bag will even be widely available).
