We’ve known, since July, that chic Parisian boutique colette will be closing its doors on December 20th. “As all good things must come to an end,” the store wrote. “After twenty wonderful years, Colette should be closing its doors.” The cult concept store in the First Arrondissement has been an iconic French hit for two decades—apparently, it’s the only place Karl Lagerfeld ever shops.

Now, perhaps as its swan song, the inimitable boutique is collaborating with the quintessential Parisian maison: Chanel. Timeless tradition is meeting modern, of-the-moment chic one last time. Read on for the details…

Beginning October 30, Chanel has occupied the upper floor of colette (213, rue Saint-Honoré, Paris). Designs from Fall-Winter and Cruise collections are on display; concerts, interviews, and performances will follow.

Let’s not forget that this isn’t the first time the two French powerhouses have collaborated: they had a joint pop-up store in a former garage during Paris Fashion Week of 2011. Aside from shopping there himself, it’s clear Karl has a special affinity for colette…

In its final moments, colette’s collaboration with the quintessential French luxury brand is sure to make a splash. In Paris, it’s the end of a fashion era—and what better way to mark the momentous occasion than with the help of a fellow icon.

Chanel at colette will continue until November 25. And after colette makes its final moves out of the desirable Saint-Honoré space, Saint Laurent will be taking over the store beginning December 20—as we approach the end of 2017, we’ll be saying an au revoir to Colette, but bonjour to Saint Laurent.
