Handbag Highlights: Louis Vuitton Fall-Winter 2017

Handbags are front and center in Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2017 ad campaign! Shot by photographer Bruce Weber in Florida, the campaign (titled “Series 7”) showcases LV’s styles on top models and actors—notably Jaden Smith, French star Catherine Deneuve, and Game of Throne’s Sophia Turner.

The striking campaign, which highlights new fall-winter arrivals, includes hit bags from LV creative director Nicolas Ghesquière: the structured, Birkin-like City Steamer and the Twist bag, recognizable by its bold plated LV in the center. New styles are also in the colorful mix!

PurseBop is here to dissect the collection and give you the rundown on the various LV trends on display in the beautifully-shot ads. Let’s see what Louis Vuitton has to offer, shall we?

Color-Blocking

One color boldly juxtaposed to another—this defines a number of bags on display in the ads. The style makes for a clean, structured, and yet still playful look. We have to say, we’re huge fans! Classic Louis Vuitton.

Classic, Structured Silhouettes

Louis Vuitton built its name on its luggage and then its beautifully structured handbags. It’s a true heritage brand, and there are no signs that LV is going to abandon its roots anytime soon. These classics, made unique with chains and subtle embellishments, would complement any outfit!

Bold Prints and Embellishments!

Bold bags are undeniably “in” this season. These printed and colorful small bags can be spotted throughout the collection. And, as we noticed in our fall trends update, embellishments/metallics are all the rage right now. (Read: Fall Bag Trends: Sequins + Metallics) The upshot? LV has definitely established itself as a major trendsetter in the fashion world.

New Takes on the Classic LV Monogram Canvas

Would it really be a Louis Vuitton collection without the ubiquitous chocolate-brown monogram canvas? (Case in point: revisit LV’s Cruise 2018 Collection!) But, in typical innovative fashion, LV decided to update the traditional canvas with an exciting, geometric approach.
