Honey, they shrunk the bags! On BopTalk, we mentioned the teeny Jacquemus bag that walked the runway during the opening of Fall/Winter 2019 Paris Fashion Week. Apparently, that little purse has sparked a lot of conversation.
While the mini trend has been going on for a while, the French designer Jacquemus brings it to a whole new level. At just two inches in height, the mini Le Chiquito fits better around your finger than it does your arm. The name may sound familiar, as this micro bag is the successor to Spring/Summer 2018’s Le Sac Chiquito⎯the tiny bag that’s been seen on the arms of celebrities like Kim Kardashian West and Rihanna.
Le Sac Chiquito, as seen above, seems downright giant when compared to the new micro version. And while Kim may be able to fit a phone and lipstick in her four inch mini, you’ll be hard pressed to get a tin of mints in this new palm-sized purse.
Jacquemus premiered the mini Le Chiquito before the runway by sending them along with itty bitty invitations. And at the show itself, aptly named “La Collectionneuse”, the bags hit the catwalk in bright colors such as purple, red, and white.
The designer mentioned that he has already sold “tens of thousands” of the micro purse since its debut. But if you’re itching to get your fingers on the new mini Le Chiquito, you’re going to have to wait. It won’t be available for purchase until next season. However, you can shop the in-season styles, which range from around 350-750 dollars. And with Le Sac Chiquito selling at $522, we can assume that this micro bag will come with a fairly large price tag of its own.
Would you buy one of these tiny bags, or are they too far down the mini rabbit hole? They certainly are a statement (when you can see them). Would you try to fit something inside it or just wear it decoratively? If you get bored of it, you can always give it to your local Barbie. Let us know your thoughts in the comments and at BopTalk!
