Hermès Unveils Rare Exclusive Bags at Its Spectacular New Bond Street Maison

Fifty-five rooms, four staircases, three elevators, and two roof terraces — Hermès’ Maison on New Bond Street was designed to be explored.

Opened in June 2026, the sprawling London flagship spans six interconnected buildings arranged around a central courtyard, in the heart of Mayfair, with dedicated spaces for everything from silks and jewelry to leather goods and homewares. But beyond the artwork-filled rooms and leather-filled salons lies another reason collectors are making the pilgrimage to New Bond Street.

From first-of-their-kind Birkins to playful tributes to British culture, here’s a closer look at the exclusive bags.

‘Precious Paradise’ Birkins

The opening of Hermès’ New Bond Street Maison also marks a first for the Birkin. Among the exclusive designs created for the flagship is the Birkin 20 in Retourne style — the smallest Birkin currently offered by the house and, notably, the first time the silhouette has been produced in this softer construction. Previously, the Birkin 20 has largely been reserved for more structured Sellier iterations, often with Chèvre leather or exotic skins such as lizard and matte alligator.

Crafted in Nata Swift leather, the bag features intricate floral embroidery from British botanical artist Katie Scott’s Precious Paradise series. Known for her highly detailed illustrations, Scott has collaborated with Hermès since 2018, contributing everything from silk scarves to tableware and boutique window displays.

The design also appears on a Birkin 25 in Noir Swift leather, where the vibrant botanical motifs take on a richer, more dramatic appearance. Across both sizes, the embroidery is exceptionally fine, creating the illusion that the artwork has been drawn directly onto the leather rather than stitched into it.

Horizon Birkin 30

This Birkin 30 isn’t about to blend into the herd. At first glance, its bold zebra stripes appear printed onto the leather, but this is Hermès, so naturally the reality is far more impressive. Each stripe is individually cut from Gris Argenté Chèvre and painstakingly applied to Noir Togo leather. Every section is carefully shaped, aligned, and stitched into place, creating the illusion of a seamless zebra pattern flowing across the bag.

Mini Kelly ‘Cheval de Bois’

First introduced in the Hermès Spring-Summer 2024 collection, the Mini Kelly Cheval de Bois – French for “wooden horse”, showcased the Maison’s extraordinary marquetry craftsmanship. Originally presented in Noir Box calfskin, the design returns for the opening of the New Bond Street Maison in a striking new guise.

Reimagined in Hermès’ signature Rouge H shade in glossy Tadelakt leather, the Mini Kelly Cheval de Bois is displayed in a dedicated case of its own. The equestrian motif is created using marquetry, one of the house’s most intricate decorative techniques. Rather than applying a motif to the surface, artisans painstakingly cut and assemble individual pieces of wood veneer before inlaying them directly into the leather. The result is a richly textured design with remarkable depth and dimension, transforming the Mini Kelly into something closer to a work of art than a handbag.

Sac à Malice

Forget cucumber sandwiches and scones – the most coveted afternoon tea reservation in London might just be this Hermès Sac à Malice. Equal parts handbag and conversation piece, the whimsical design captures a quintessentially British tea scene, complete with a teapot, a steaming cup of tea, and a slice of cake. Crafted from Togo and Epsom leather using the Maison’s intricate marquetry technique, every element is carefully assembled to create a design that’s as charming as it is technically impressive.

Look closely and you’ll spot the standout detail: the steam curling from the teapot doesn’t simply disappear into the design. Instead, it transforms into the gold-plated clasp itself.

HAC à Dos GM Backpack

London calling – and this time, Hermès picked up the guitar.

Stretching across the front of the HAC à Dos GM Backpack is an oversized electric guitar motif, a tribute to the city that helped shape everything from punk and Britpop. Constructed using the technique seen on the Horizon Birkin 30, the design is composed of individually hand-cut panels of Swift leather in Nata, Noir, and Gris. Each piece is meticulously layered and stitched onto the Noir base. Finished with palladium hardware, fretwork-inspired stitching, and leather volume and tuning knobs, the HAC à Dos is ready to jam.

HAC Rock

Arguably the most rebellious silhouette in the London line-up, the HAC Rock returns with even more attitude than before. First introduced on the Men’s Fall-Winter 2022 runway in Swift leather, this latest iteration fully embraces its punk-rock persona. Crafted entirely in matte Noir alligator and finished with the silhouette’s signature oversized palladium hardware, the design channels the rebellious spirit of British punk through the luxurious lens of Hermès.
