As if we didn’t leave Paris from the Fall/Winter 2023 runway show and Re-see with a long wishlist of new and upcoming handbags, now we must add another. Tiny and dainty yet with some capacity this will surely make for the ultimate wishlist item for 2023.

To be fair, tiny Birkins aren’t a totally new concept. The Faubourg Birkin comes in the 20cm petite size. And long before the current mini bag craze, in 2011 then Hermès designer Christophe Lemaire released the first Birkin 15, which actually had been designed by his predecessor at Hermès, Jean-Paul Gaultier. That tiny bag was produced only in limited quantities in swift and epsom leather.

As for this iteration of a Birkin 20, we presume it will only be made in exotics and will be a push offer. Meaning Paris will send it randomly and sparsely to just a few boutiques here and there around the globe.
Thus far, it has been spotted only twice, in black lizard and Vert d’Eau croc, and we don’t expect it to be an easy offering. If you’re dreaming of this, be prepared to continue dreaming. We anticipate seeing it on a few VIP celebrities before it’s available to anyone else (possibly in 2024).
But I, for one, am willing to wait as long as it takes to make one of these babies mine.
