Showtime

Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Pre-Fall 2024 Collection showing took place beneath the night sky along Hong Kong’s Avenue of Stars. Against a striking cityscape, the digital runway transformed into a mesmerizing seascape. Meanwhile, drones illuminated the night sky with a light show, morphing seamlessly into sailboats, and waves, before finally transforming into Pharrell’s distinctive ‘LVers’ motif. Notably, reminiscent of the tribute show honoring Virgil Abloh, this spectacular drone light show marked two years since  his passing, commemorating the enduring legacy of the visionary designer.

The collection echos the Maison’s art of travel, of course with a Pharrell twist. Seamlessly capturing the change of seasons, the collection intertwines casual Hawaiian print shirts and shorts alongside tailored suits effortlessly paired with socks and sandals. Evoking the spirit of a cruise collection, the looks are styled with sailor hats set against a palette dominated by nautical blues and whites. Pharrell delved into the essence of his show while chatting exclusively with Hypebeast:

”It was inspired by the idea of a businessman in Hong Kong who has decided to spend a week or so in Hawaii on holiday. But in the middle of his trip, he had to go back to Hong Kong for one day for a meeting.”

When it comes to the bags, travel serves as the core of the Pre-Fall 2024 collection. The accessories take center stage, offering an extensive array of bags ranging from petite to oversized, catering to the wanderlust spirit. From crossbody bags to bumbags, designed for the modern-day explorer, to the timeless Keepall, and Alma, all are on display. Among the Louis Vuitton classics, the iconic Damier print commands attention, showcasing new iterations, and textures…

XL Damier Print

Pharrell’s penchant for reinventing classic LV prints shines through as he moves away from Damoflage to the striking new oversized Damier. Embracing Louis Vuitton’s enduring classics, the bold XL Damier pattern takes center stage on the Speedy, Keepall, and On The Go Tote. This oversized Damier is presented in pristine white with hints of nautical-inspired red and blue, complemented by vachetta, as well as a rich graphite blue tone accompanied by navy leather.

Embossed Damier Print

At first glance, the embossed motif resembles crocodile skin, but upon closer examination, it reveals a modern interpretation of the iconic Damier pattern. Showcased on the Alma Travel GM bag, Keepall, and Christopher backpack, this contemporary design introduces texture and depth to the classic Damier aesthetic. Complemented by a richer shade of brown, these embossed leather creations boast glossy black detailing.

Crochet Damier

Adding yet another dimension to the Damier legacy, crochet emerges as a fresh iteration. This charming crochet technique graces a beach-ready tote and the coveted Nano Speedy, reinterpreting the classic pattern with artisanal flair.

Denim Damier & Monogram

LV has a history of reimagining its iconic monogram in denim, a trend that garnered popularity in the mid-2000s. Now, however, Pharrell elevates it to new heights. Reimagined in its oversized format, the Denim Damier is finished with a ‘worn in’ Vachetta leather finish, allowing the honey-colored patina to shine through. This denim interpretation extends across the Speedy, hobo-style bags, and crossbody designs.

Taking it to the Tropics

Did someone say vacation? Amidst the array of fresh prints, the tropical-inspired designs make a striking impression on the runway, adorning luggage and everyday bags. Radiant tropical tones redefine the classic Monogram, with bold palm and floral print. Yet, for those seeking a more understated appeal, a collection of subdued neutrals is also offered. Both iterations delicately unveil the LV Monogram beneath their vibrant patterns.

Bag Charms

Louis Vuitton introduces an array of nautical-themed bag charms. Among these, the crab design appeared repeatedly, in vividly colored LV Monogram and leather. Beyond customization, these bag charms double as functional zippered mini pouches, adding a playful touch of maritime charm to the accessory line.
